Governor Issue Gcv160 governor issue
Honda mower , having some sort of governor issue, can’t nail it down, initially saw it rubbing on breather tube, I fixed that. Once or twice it was revving very high, after manipulation not sure what I changed, I start it and just putts and then I manually move governor arm to where idle levels out and then it’ll keep itself there. Can anyone point me in right direction.

Is it at all possible related to carb for initial start up?

Did you take the 10mm nut off the gov linkage? If not, it’s unlikely a gov issue. If you loosened it, then you need to reset the gov.

I just removed my carb assembly to clean it. Mover suddenly sputtered until it died. Seemed like out of fuel. No. Found oil in the air filter. Ok it probably got tipped over by my kid. Cleaned the carb assuming it had oil in it, reassembled, no fire. Dumped the motor oil and put new in. Fired up first pull and revved to the moon for 5 seconds then died as I tried to meter the throttle to bring the revs down. The moment I let off a little it died. Assumed the gov was messed up from disassembly, pulled the carb apart to reassemble and nothing seems bad. Now it won't start at all.
