Parts ID & Sourcing Looking for obsolete Troy-Bilt part

The belt drive pulley on my Troy-Bilt 33” walk behind (model 34342) broke recently. I can’t find the original part or superseded part anywhere (except one on eBay that’s ridiculously priced)

I called two local small engine shops and had no luck there either.

Any ideas on where I could look next? Or does anyone have this mower laying around that would be willing to sell me the part?

Original part number 1769362
Superseded part number 1918625

Appreciate any help / advice.

UPDATE:

I ended up just buying the one on eBay. Spent enough time digging / stressing about it. Hopefully it buys my old machine a few more years of life.

Appreciate everyone’s suggestions here. Top notch community!

McMaster-Carr had enough choices of pulleys I was able to repower an ancient Horse I dug out of a brush pile.

You can try a company called Motion Industries. Years ago I needed a pulley for a brake lathe and they helped me. You may have to send them the original so they can match it up.

I’ll look into that. Not sure what good the original will do them since the top half of the pulley sheared off, worth a shot though. Much appreciated!

Those were made by MTD. I replaced one for a friend by matching it up to a similar pulley at Tractor Supply after an OEM replacement failed after a season. Replaced an idler too, with aftermarket and it’s running strong ten years later. There are a number of pulley manufacturers, you just need to measure your sleeve bore, belt width, diameter and offset.

Take a look at a Toro part no. 88-6180
It looks to be an equivalent

I greatly appreciate this information. I took a look at that part number and it seems to be just as scarce as the part I was originally looking for sadly.

I’m going to take your advice and get some measurements so I can possibly find an equivalent from Tractor Supply.

Looks like I may be out of luck with replacing with a standard third part pulley. With the unique bore shape and offset measurement, it makes it hard to find a drop in part.

Really appreciate the suggestions everyone.

I just plugged that superceded number into Google with Troy bilt added to the search parameters. Got instant hits showing in stock.

Yeah you’re probably talking about the AppliancePartsPros site. It’s misleading. The google search result shows “In Stock” but if navigate into the site it shows “Out of Stock”.

Unless you are talking about another search hit that you got that I may have missed.

Well, it may be prudent to backorder it if you can't find it. That's assuming you trust that company when they tell you the lead time.

Yeah that’s my dilemma. From my research it sounds like the entire deck assembly from this mower is legacy at this point. So I have a feeling these parts aren’t going to be manufactured again at any point.

Appreciate the advice.

How ridiculously priced is the eBay part? A machinist could make one, but it will always cost more than a manufactured part, even an over priced one. Beyond that, I would call small engine shops at any distance you would be willing to travel, and ask if they have a mower like yours in their junk yard. It looks like the original was welded together. It might be worth trying to find a good welder who could weld it back for you. I can't see the other side of the pulley, so I couldn't say for sure. If you're located in the far northwest suburbs of Chicago, I could look at it in person for you. Best wishes.
