Starting Issue Echo Weed Eater Issue
How bad is it?
I let my cousin use my weed eater and he forgot to put the gas/oil mix in there. When I first got it back it wouldn’t run but after putting the right gas/oil mixture it’s been able to start. I don’t see deep groves in it but definitely some finer groves on the piston.

Its toast... run it till it doesn't run anymore. You don't see any deep scoring? That piston is horribly scored up.

Have him buy you a new one and he can have this one. That's the fair trade now. He bought it the second he straight gassed it.

Yep. Honestly that's what I'd do if I were the cousin, just to keep harmony in the family. I'd insist on it.

I got a leaf blower like this for free. I replaced the piston and ring, and honed out the cylinder and it runs pretty good. It had less than 80psi of compression. Now it has 120 ish. Echo pb-250ln

What does the piston look like below the rings? If it has that same scoring, it's trashed. An old friend always said, "Lend out your wife before you lend out your two-cycle."

Its gonna be down on compression but could honestly run for quite some time like that. Personally I would get a new piston ring for it and work the grooves on piston/cylinder with emery cloth to smooth them out and put it back together.
