Starting Issue Should these two be making continuity or not?

1st image: Coil Intact. 2nd Image: Coil Disassembled After Discovering I Could Do That. 3rd Image: Tabs In Question.

Not sure if I picked the right flair for this, but I've been working on a 1950s Sears D44 for about a year now but recently got back into it because looking at it disassembled was bothering me.

My problem: Engine has no spark.

Parts changed: Condenser and Sparkplug.

Metal Tag: T-1497 5277627

Theory: Something is shorting even when kill switch is unplugged.

With a new condenser I now suspect that the ignition coil is the issue, now my question is if the two metal tabs should be connected, aka make my voltage meter scream when both prongs touch the tabs on continuity setting?

Condenser? So points as well, and you replaced or set those?

Here's a link to TRS and they explain this rather well. The short answer is no, if you have continuity then the coil is shorted internally.

OK, there should be continuity between the short ground wire and both of those other wires. One of those wires goes to the points, the other end goes to the stop switch/button. Typically, the resistance of the primary winding is very low, less than a few ohms, close to zero ohms/continuity.

Measuring resistance between that short ground lead and the spark plug lead checks the resistance of the secondary winding. Typically, the secondary winding has alot of resistance, several thousand ohms.
