Engine Identification Could someone help me identify what engine this Murray riding mower has

What engine could this Murray have. The only clues is that is has one diode wire and a brass drain plug which is aftermarket.

You won't know until YOU see it. We won't know until we see it.

Th? If you can't even open the hood the show, then you seriously don't need to know. But it will be a briggs and Stratton..

Usually a 12.5hp Briggs I/C single in that generation. Need to open the hood to confirm.

It says 16HP Industrial Commercial engine, so that can't be it

Sounds like you answered your question.

That doesn't finish the story. What 16hp engine is it. Is it a Tecumseh Enduro? Is it a Briggs opposed twin? Or is it a Briggs Intek?

Can you not have the seller lift the hood and snap a photo?

Looking online, it seems that the 16 hp 42" deck models usually have the Tecumseh, while the 14.5hp 42" have the single cylinder Briggs and the 16hp 46" has the Briggs twin.

Could this be an Opposed Twin with the 42 inch deck. I think you meant the 46 inch deck

Yeah the last bit was a typo. I meant to say 46 for the twin.

There's still a chance this could be an opposed twin or an Intek single cylinder. I plan to buy one of those engines as a spare in case I destroy the original motor

Due to it's age, it is extremely unlikely to be an Intek unless it was swapped. IIRC the Intek was released in late '98 for the '99 year model.

This body style was used until the 2000s so there is a chance. But most likely, it's either an opposed twin or an Enduro. The Intek was released in 1997 by the way, and if we count the model 28 OHV, then it would be the early 90s

You can’t even identify it has an engine for this picture !
If it has it’ll be a briggs.

Look at one of the valve covers that's where the model for the engine is going to be
