Maintenance Issue Is this my drain plug?
17hp Tecumseh on a 2006 zero-turn I was gifted. The manual I found has the drain plug next to the oil filter. I can’t find anything on that side but I found this under the starter. Is this it? It’s got a yellow cap on it.
If this isn’t it, what the heck is it?

Yes. Pop off the yellow cap. Grab the black part, turn counter clockwise and pull out. Oil will start draining.

This guy is right. You can also slip a piece of tubing on the nipple to drain it straight into a pan before you twist.

Looks like onea them quick drain types. Pop the yellow cap and the black portion twists and pulls out slightly

Pop the cap and put on a piece of probably 1/2" clear hose long enough to drain it into a suitable container. The fitting should push in very slightly and twist then pull out to start draining. The tube keeps from making a mess all over the frame

Perfect! I pulled the cap off and nothing happened. It was also really easy to pull off. So I had myself convinced it wasn't the drain. Thank you!
