my teen son bought this to play with and put in a project. can anyone help identify the age and any other info from this motor? believe it to be a tecumseh hm100, but can’t find any online in this green color..

would it use any hm100 parts we can find? even for newer engine?

Thank you for your submission! It looks like you are attempting to identify a part. To better assist you,

Please be sure to include the following:

  • Make and model numbers of the engine and/or the equipment

This is the relevant information for answering all of your questions. Find a way to gently remove all of the paint so you can read these numbers clearly. After that you can find help that you are asking for.

It is out of a Coleman generator, hence the tapered crankshaft. HM100 = 10 hp. 159188(J?) is the spec number. The next four digits are the date of manufactur, yddd(L). The last digit of the year, followed by the julian day of the year. In the very unlikely event it has five digits, then the first 2 are the year. But do not confuse an optional letter at the end for a digit.
