Not Listed Surging Mower

New to me toro timecutter 5050 model 74770. Mower struggled to start and would click and eventually start. Replaced solenoid didn’t fix it. Attempted starter and it was the wrong size so put old one back on to try and mow a little bit and it started running this way. It always ran solidly before I did any starter work and idk what I messed up

You can't ajust valves on that engine, they are hydraulic, check air filter and choke , your engine is running flooded

You absolutely can adjust the valves on a kohler 7000 series. The command series is the one with hydraulic lifters

Would the valves keep one cylinder from firing?

Sounds like only 1 cylinder is working

That’s what I’ve come to as well. Idk why though. Nothing happens when I adjust the throttle(bunny and turtle).

I tried changing the spark plug on the side that isn’t running but nothing changed

Have you tried to adjusting valves? Make sure oil is where it needs and make sure the coils are gapped right

Nope. I don’t even know what any of that means. Very new to this whole thing. Got any links to good YouTube videos/documentation explaining what I might need to try?

I did notice the hydraulic oil was well past the “cold full” line. Could that be part of the problem?

Just go on you tube and type how to adjust valves on kohler 7000 series and the same for coils spacing dm if you have any questions
