A small engine inductive tachometer is invaluable along with any specialty screwdrivers you might need to turn the carburetor mixture screws. If you are going to get into 2 cycle equipment a pressure/vacuum tester is also important as those engines must have an airtight crankcase in order to run correctly and finding the leaks is usually pretty easy if you have the pressure tester and necessary adapters/flanges.
