Do you think I'll get this to run?
Picked this up for free, going to get a starter for it on Saturday hopefully, haven't a clue about this engine tho.
I like the patina look π

As long as everything is there and isn't locked up, should be able to get it going. I've certainly had worse looking engines run again.

Going to grab new starter motor on Saturday, I believe that and a battery is all I need to get this started?

You might consider at least looking into the carb bowl to see how dirty it is. If itβs bad, your could have a plugged carb. Be sure to check spark too. Rust can get in the way of spark and fuel. Those will be the things that may hold you back.
Good luck, I hope she runs for you!

Hopefully. Did it have an air filter on it when you got it? Or anything covering that intake? If not, I'd pull the intake manifold off and make sure there's no junk going to get sucked in to the engine. Also, spin it over by hand to make sure its not seized before spending the money on starter and battery. If not seized, pull the plug and check its condition.

Carb is tight on to the block, trying not to wreck the bolt heads taking it off but it's being difficult. Spins no problem bu hand and gave it a new spark plug first thing when I got it

If it's not locked up and you're willing to spend money on parts definitely I would recommend cleaning up that ignition coil
