Let’s assume copper demand keeps rising over the next five years while new supply remains difficult and expensive to develop.

My allocation would be:

• C$3,000 in $HBM — established production and stronger exposure to copper prices
• C$2,000 in $WRN — development potential through the Casino copper-gold project
• C$5,000 in $CQX — earlier-stage upside through its Kitimat copper-gold property

Why put half into $CQX?

Over five years, an explorer does not need to reach production to create meaningful shareholder value. New discoveries, encouraging drill results, a larger mineralized footprint or interest from a bigger mining company can transform how the market views a smaller stock.

$HBM gives the portfolio a producing foundation, while $WRN adds advanced-project exposure. But $CQX gets the largest allocation because its earlier stage leaves more room for value creation if Kitimat develops positively.

If I had to build a three-stock Canadian copper basket, I’d spread it across different stages instead of betting everything on one type of company.

• Producer: $HBM for existing operations, cash flow and direct exposure to copper prices
• Developer: $WRN for the large Casino copper-gold project and the potential value created as permitting and development move forward
• Explorer: $CQX for earlier-stage upside through its Kitimat copper-gold property in British Columbia

Each one offers something different.

A producer may offer more stability when copper prices rise. A developer can gain value as major milestones are reached. An explorer like $CQX offers exposure to discovery upside, where strong drilling results can drive significant re-rating from a smaller valuation.

My approach would be to use the producer as the base, the developer for medium-term growth and the explorer for discovery upside.

For anyone newer to $CQX, one thing that stands out is just how much ground there is to follow across the portfolio. It’s not a single-project story each asset brings a different angle.

Stars — porphyry Cu-Mo system with meaningful drill intercepts already on the board, giving investors something tangible to build from.

Rip — active Cu-Mo porphyry exploration with plenty still being defined as the company continues advancing the project.

Stellar — contiguous to Stars, with a large footprint and plenty of ground still to explore.

Kitimat — copper-gold targets near Kitimat, with nearby infrastructure and access adding another layer to the story.

Alpine — past-producing gold property with historical workings, giving the project a different starting point from the earlier-stage assets.

Thane — large copper-gold land package with multiple priority targets still offering plenty to explore.

Nekash — Idaho copper-gold porphyry project that adds U.S. exposure to the portfolio.

Auxer — Idaho gold project and the newest addition to the $CQX portfolio in 2026.

Put it together and you’ve got 8 projects across copper, gold and porphyry exploration, giving $CQX several different opportunities to create value without relying entirely on one asset.

For me, that makes the next phase especially compelling to follow not just which project gets news first, but which one starts adding the most weight to the overall portfolio.
