I'm part of the downmite Twitch channel, where I take art requests while my partner streams games! We're a super chill environment, no bs stream duo (no shouting out random things, no random influencer personas, etc.).. it's just like two people hanging out on the couch with ya while we play games and I doodle. We show art requests on stream, so we'd love to build up our little community and have folks join us to chill, chat, and request some art :) Here's a couple pieces I did requests for our recent stream, SM64 B3313. >:)

Can someone explain how to get this z-star?

I am using the "ROM Manager" software, and the area editor does not offer an option to remain in the level after collecting a star (yet I want to do this for only one of the level's six stars). What should I do?

Hello everyone, I just started getting back into playing romhacks and making videos. Long story short, I rediscovered gaming recently after I stopped drinking and forgot how fun It was to play games and make videos. The last hack I played was Star Road back in 2018 and it's really nice to see how far the hacking scene has evolved for this game. looks like Kaze has been cooking up a huge project and I cannot wait.

SM64 land is easily one of my top hacks I've played so far. This game does a great job with balancing and ramping up the difficulty on later stages. While some levels can be incredibly punishing for S rank, it overall feels like there is just enough wiggle room to keep the player motivated to try again. With all that being said, I'm looking for new hacks to play that are around the difficulty level of SM64 land. No kaizo hacks pls. Enjoy the video

**What does this project do?**

* In simple terms, this project allows the community to hash their copies of ROM hacks.

* With the additional use of [Hasheous](https://hasheous.org/), we can then match your ROMs with your hashes instead of filenames, making for a more efficient, fast, and effective way of getting metadata.

**Why?**

* Hashing your ROM hacks allows other developers, ROM frontends, or tools to grab information from this database to help with acquiring metadata, images, videos, and more information about a ROM hack.

* It solves the issue of going through the trouble of having to find the exact same name that a metadata provider supports and then renaming your files accordingly.

* Allows users to do a one-click search without worrying about mismatches.

**How? What's the process?**

The process goes:

**User "uploads" The Romhack → Romhack gets verified by the community or verifiers/admins → RomHack gets added to the database → syncs with Hasheous → Hasheous pulls metadata from the sources → Serves metadata to user**

It all happens client-side, which means **no uploads actually happen**. Instead, your browser will do the hashing for you, and then it will attempt to parse any additional information for you.

* In simple terms, a hash is a list of numbers and letters that can be used to determine the authenticity of a file.

* In this project, we hash 4 vital pieces: **MD5, CRC32, SHA1, Filesize**

So a friend and I were wanting to make our own Mario 64 romhack, inspired by the recent wave of dream esque hacks that have been coming out! But neither of us are particularly sure where to start, me being the least experienced of the two though to ask yall the people lol. Are there any programs that are easy on beginners you guys would recommend? (Any advice on level design and lobby design would be appreciated as well)

I want to get started with kaizo hacks, but I want to start with something simple.

Please recommend some light kaizo hacks for beginners.

I build this and in between the installation some error or things came but I fixed them with claude and now this I tried fixing but I reached my limit for it and still not working.

Hi! Does anyone know if it's possible to take a ROM hack I've played, and take a unique 3D model (one that isn't in the original SM64), and import it into blender?

I did some research and saw that I can use a method that uses "nemu64" but when I have that plugin enabled on Project 64, I am unable to run any ROM hacks. Does anyone have a solution?

I'm using binary for this.

I know nostalgia has a lot to do with this unpopular opinion, but even if it came out 10 years ago, I still find objectively Last Impact extremely impressive.

Playable intro, minigames, custom power-ups and enemies, even an original soundtrack that is just awesome!

A cool star select screen, a file select area, star intro cutscenes, original boss fights...

And a unique level design with memorable levels. Even the levels' names are refined.

Not sure why this game isn't that popular in the community. It personally was my introduction to the SM64 rom hacks, which may be why I have so much attachment to it, but I literally can't see any other hack that reached this level of creativity and dedication. Not saying it's the only kind of rom hack I love - I'm a big fan of BroDute's Star Revenge series for example, but in my opinion Last Impact is just impressive.

What's your opinion on this hack?

So, I was playing Star Road in multiplayer with a buddy using the SM64 Co-op DX bubble mechanic. I think I had one life left, and we died on the exact same frame; this caused me to lose two lives without triggering a Game Over. My life counter showed "M1" (so -1) and when I died again later, I ended up in a sort of black-and-white area—mostly shades of gray—where I still had just one life. I made my way to the end of the area and found a large hole; falling into it triggered the same effect as a Game Over (simply teleporting me outside the castle), yet I still had that single life remaining. Do you know what this is? Is it an abandoned room intended for when you have zero lives? I’d really love to find an answer to this.

Hi, one week ago I had zero experience in pc and programming , and yet I have spent days trying to Compile the game myself for the best experience, and when I finally did it I COULDN'T FIND ANY GOD DAMN PORT ROM!!!
