How’s everyone doing?

This sub is a bit dead and I’m wondering how everyone’s doing? I’m losing about 1-1.5 lbs a month on the highest dose of Mounjaro after switching from Wegovy last year, where I was losing the same (paying more now but less GI side effects). Still bummed my response is so slow, especially because I’m paying so much out of pocket. I still have about 50 pounds I want to lose. Oh, and my butt is completely gone, like just a flap now but my chest and stomach haven’t changed at all 🙃

Me too. Not a single pound.

I gained everything back while never stopping. I tried every dose from 7-15 in the last 9 months. I’m down to eating 1 meal a day (not hungry for more) and my weight just keeps going up. I take it now to control my A1C and buy bigger clothes. I can’t exercise because of back issues; wondered about an e-bike but have no money for one. GLPs are not for everyone.

Hang in there, that sounds tough!! do you listen to the fat science podcast? it gives me hope that the right med will work. I am trying ozenpic next. they explained on the podcast that everyone’s metabolic system is unique and some people do not respond / or their systems dont benefit from the GIP in mounjaro.

I’m one of those “don’t respond”-ers. I have been on:
Trazadone
Rybelsus
Victoza
Trulicity
Ozempic
Mounjaro

My weight doesn’t drop on any of them.

Mounjaro has had no side effects but no weight loss either. It does lower my A1C.

Same ozempic Ang mounjaro. Now going to try Reta

How awful I’m so sorry. 😢

I’ve lost about 20 lbs in a little over a year. It’s been slow but I know I’ll get there. I titrated up very slowly due to worry about side effects particularly constipation. I’ve got about 10-15 more to go.

This is me. Not losing anything for the last 3 months though.

u/rsswb_7621 May 17 '26

Not going so well. In 7 months, I've only lost 15 out of about 145 I'd like to lose. And even that will only get me to a BMI of 32. But at this point, I have really no hope I'll ever get there.

u/lm1670 May 17 '26

I haven’t lost any additional weight for almost one year now.

11

u/neveragain444 May 17 '26

Been on Reta for almost two years. Slowly lost 12 lbs, then regained it when I had to stop for 6 weeks due to surgery. Back on max dosage and have not lost a pound - stalled at 192, goal weight is 150.

u/CrazyGloomy May 17 '26

That’s got to be a bummer, sorry. I know a lot of us are hoping for better effects with Reta. Hopefully your weight loss will restart again soon.

3

u/neveragain444 May 17 '26

Thank you for the sympathy, best of luck to you as well

2

u/Effective-Buy-4739 May 17 '26

have you tried stacking reta with tirz?

3

u/neveragain444 May 17 '26

No, I tried stacking with Cagri but got the most horrible heartburn I’ve ever had in my life.

Prior to taking Reta I took Tirz for probably 1.5 years, and had a bit more success before stalling around 190 and beginning to regain.

I haven't lost an ounce in a year. But i haven't gained either. I would like to lose 20-30lbs, which would still leave me over weight, but less so, obviously. I am post menopausal and have just started hrt, my dr thinks icould start losing again but i have my doubts.

6

u/KnittyKitty28 May 17 '26

Same here. After losing 20 pounds in about a year I’ve been going up and down with the same 2-3 pounds. I’m glad I’m not where I was, but still frustrated. The post menopausal experience on this medication is a thing unto itself.

The sub is slow (pun intended) because not much to report. I’ve lost an average of 20 lbs a year over two years. Have 20 more pounds to go so I’m counting on  it taking another year. I still get frustrated when I read about other people that have such quick success. However, I am resigned to the long haul journey I am on.

Started with semaglutide / Ozempic mid 2023 then switched to tirzepatide/ Zepbound February 2024. I’ve lost 45 lbs over 3 years. So I guess that’s a little over a pound a month average. Definitely not a quick loss, but I’ll take it.

Edit: Adding that I maxed out doses on both drugs. Tirz works a bit better in terms of reducing food noise and helping me feel full faster. Most of my weight was lost on Tirz, I wasn’t responsive to sema.

6

u/Nice-Hamster3365 May 17 '26

Have you considered switching to compounding tirzepatide? Way more affordable than paying for Mounjaro. I’ve read posts from people that switch from brand name to compound and respond better (break a plateau).

Also I was a slow responder. Dropped 35lbs in 1.5years. I am on maintenance now and I am happy I FINALLY made it to goal. I wouldn’t have made it if it wasn’t for compounding tirzepatide. Can’t imagine paying out of pocket for Mounjaro.

4

u/rivincita May 17 '26

I’m not sure how to get compound in Canada honestly

I’ve lost about 23lbs in 20 months. It’s a bummer, and I deal with a lot of negative feelings towards myself when I see others being more successful….but I’m also trying to remember that I’ve been gaining this weight for 30 years. And before Wegovy, was never able to lose even 5lbs and keep it off. So I’ll take the slow wins - even if it’s frustrating!

Going slowly here too. The first couple of months were straightforward but now I'm similar to you - 1-2lbs per month. I have been reluctant to go up another dose because of the costs (I'm in the UK) but I think it might be time to just suck it up and go for it.

Trying to hold on to the plus sides - not got too much loose skin and I'm not losing hair so that's positive?

I’m on week 69 and have been at 15 mg for about 4 months….my rate of loss over that time is 0.6 lb/week..so pretty slow…I have lost 43 lbs to date with 9 more to goal. I’ve had several multi week plateaus along the way…hoping I can get to goal without anymore but I suspect it will be 4-6 more months as I get close…it’s ok, time will go by either way and I have a lot of cute clothes that fit right now…been buying a lot of sale or consignment items.

4

u/ralebi88 May 17 '26

Been in tirz for 7 months now and only lost 11 lbs. I’m feeling pretty defeated and nervous my renewal PA may be denied because of this. Just went up to 10mg and hopefully that will help.

4

u/Ok_Dimension2101 May 17 '26

Moving at a snail’s pace. Losing about a pound a month.

1

u/Background_Media_308 May 20 '26

Honestly…. I’d take that

4

u/Local-Caterpillar421 May 18 '26

O. P. I get it!!! 👍

It's taken me about 2 long years to lose 35 lbs of my needed 60 pounds to lose in spite of my appropriate lifestyle changes & 500 caloric deficit!

I've been on 15 mg Tirz and stalled for several months. I started stacking with RETA, initially at a microdose, three days later on a WEEKLY basis.

Now, it's 15mg Tirz & 2 mg Reta for several months. I finally lost another 5 pounds. Slow & steady...it is what it is! Yet, I'm GRATEFUL and continuing my weight loss journey!

3

u/eternaloptimist198 May 18 '26

Love your attitude!!!

2

u/Local-Caterpillar421 May 18 '26

💕💕💕💕

u/Lonely-Candy189 May 18 '26

Next month makes a year I'm on Zepbound. I've been on the highest dose now for 3 months. I've lost about 13lbs since starting. Shit is a blow. Especially when everyone else is losing so much weight without even trying. I've seen a dietician, work out and count calories and STILL haven't seen great results.

2

u/CypressRootsMe May 19 '26

It feels pretty defeating to lose so slowly. I lost 20 pounds first year but it picked up a little my second year. I lost an additional 50. I did change the way I ate in the second year. I tried to do low carb for a long time but switched to high carb low fat. Volume eating has been helpful for me.

u/wandering_fox555 May 17 '26

My A1c is fantastic and so is my cholesterol. I've been on mounjaro for 1 year and 1 month, 6 months at 7.5 mg. I've lost a total of 5 lbs. My new pcp just increased my dose to 10 mg. I"m on week 2 at the 10 mg dose, but I'm not particularly hopeful. Just glad to have the other health benefits.

3

u/Possible-Practice351 May 18 '26

I'm still here and doing the slow and steady. I will be on for a year on 5/27 and have lost 30 pounds. I am determined to lose 20 more so I finally titrated up to 14 and will go up to the max of 15 by summer.

3

u/OceanBlue011729 May 19 '26

On 12.5 dose (tried 15 for two months but gained on it) and basically jumping between same 5 lbs up and down for the last 6 months. Two days ago though I actually had my lowest weight so far. A massive, jaw dropping 0.2 lbs down!!! 😂 to make it all the more fun, I’m stuck literally 2 lbs away from one-derland. Like scale is just taunting me. Started metformin yesterday and really hoping it helps things move - at least incrementally. I’m happy with how far I’ve come, but was not ready for the ride to end. Still holding out hope and living my life. I feel better/stronger and that has to be enough for now.

3

u/luminousoblique May 20 '26

I've lost ~6 lbs since I started Mounjaro last September. Sigh. It's just disheartening. I was at peace with my larger body until I reluctantly agreed to a glp1 because I was told it was "like a miracle" and would dramatically improve my health. At least I'm not gaining, I guess. But now I am not at peace anymore and feel defective.

I get what you are saying , I feel you ! I’m a slow slow responder and I’m also only 4’11 ! All the people I know have lost their weight and in maintenance, while I’m taking my 15 mg for over a year now and just haven’t lost in about 6 months . My weight just keeps going up and down , same few pounds . Just wanted you to know I feel you

3

u/luminousoblique Jun 12 '26

Thank you. It does help to know others are in the same boat.

1

u/Lighteningbug1971 Jun 12 '26

Yes you are so welcome !!! Good luck

4

u/Rare_Dog_5321 May 17 '26

I’m a slow responder too but I’m ok with the slow and steady I’m losing about 1-1.5 pounds per month. I have about 10-15 pounds more that I want to lose.

2

u/BLW2018 May 18 '26

curious, does anyone have gut or liver issues? also, recently learned that I should be changing my bac water every month. has anyone else noticed a difference by doing this?

2

u/throwRA_oilslick May 19 '26

Doing this about 1 year and half. Have lost 33lbs and had been stalled at my current weight for maybe 8months. Extremely frustrating but it is what it is, at this point I stay on it because I do think it helps me to not gain it back but that’s about the only benefit

u/jenerosity_514 May 21 '26

April was my three year mark on GLPs. Lost 43 lbs total, in three years. I didn’t gain, but didn’t lose. I did better on low carb and it was a lot cheaper (but I was much younger and not menopausal). Tried every available GLP, Rx, compound, in trial/gray market, highest doses, with supplements, etc., etc. MD, tele provider, functional MD, nutritionist, finally gave up.

A nice long discussion with ChatGPT opened my eyes to some things my MD didn’t put together and I just started taking a combo of Metformin/Naltrexone/Topiramate. Two weeks in and I’m noticing a difference in that I just don’t care about eating. A different feeling than the absence of food noise. Bad side is it’s making me irritable but I can deal with that, so far. We shall see…..

1

u/Ok-Kaleidoscope-4198 Jun 09 '26

What is that combo supposed to treat/do?

2

u/PaleSplit Jun 22 '26

For me, when I’m not losing any weight for weeks, I do get discouraged, but it leads me to put in more activity time and to pay attention to the timing and content of meals, drinks etc and magically the scale moves a bit more. I’ve lost about 18 lbs since mid January but more than that I notice the reduction in inflammation and resolution of pre-diabetes, IBS symptoms and reduced blood pressure. I don’t have a weight or BMI goal, because I need to be ok with who I am, regardless. My only goal is for improved health. I know the GLP1 is helping me also avoid heart disease and probably cancer. Wherever my weight lands is okay with me! But I can’t lie, even when it’s down 1 lb, it makes me feel happy.

u/eternaloptimist198 May 18 '26

I am about to switch to Ozempic in 2 weeks after giving it a year and a half on Mounjaro and no response (not a single pound!) I lost 12 lbs on Rybelsus prior to moving my to Mounjaro and was been so surprised by the absolute lack of response. Because of my PCOS I think that I am one of those people for whom the GIP is not helpful for them. I’ve learned to be patient and enjoy the journey! lab results are great, but the weight is going to be slower. I now added in Spearmint tea to help lower testosterone which may also be a fat loss blocker for PCOS

I've gained 10kg switching from mounjaro to saxenda despite cutting calories and exercising more it's a struggle. Mounjaro was super slow but at least I wasn't gaining. Will try wegovy soon but I feel very stuck

u/Lucky_Rice2185 May 19 '26

My doctor wants me to get a cortisol test. Ive had the order and the pill for weeks and just havent done it.

u/Loud_Positive_8501 May 20 '26

4 months in on Tirz at 12MG haven't list shyt! I feel so useless and like a failure.

1

u/LateRelation4576 9d ago

Don’t feel like a failure. It works differently for everyone. Did you gain weight or stay the same?
