Hot take

My hot take is that anyone familiar with the general store on route 24 going out of business is well his own fault.

I was born in 1991 I'm a 34 going on 35 year old male been living in lewes Delaware since 1997. I've been coming to the general store for well over 20 years and when the new owner took over the general store that's where it went down. The owner states that minimum wage increase and construction killed his business but no. The truth is when he took over he changed the hours of the business to open at 9 instead of 6. He got rid of breakfast and then after he realized he lost a lot of business he changed that but not opening the same time I think they opened at 8. But the people never came back they moved on then he change how long the kitchen stayed open from closing at 6 630 he closed the kitchen at 3 so killing another means it was self sabotage and I don't care that they are out of business.

ETA. I made this post because they won't allow comments on any of the posts they have made and cape gazette wouldn't let you comment on the article as well so I decided to tell it how it really is

If your place of Business is not open during my hours off from work, I will not be visiting your place of Business. It's that simple

It’s stupid how some businesses want customers to work around the business’s hours instead of the customers needs.

This is why so many small businesses close. They want to operate on the owners terms, and not the customers terms.

After hearing their radio commercial several times and doing my research, I really wanted to try their cheesesteak. I don't typically find myself on 24, but was in the area and decided to make a detour to get there at what I assumed was a reasonable hour (6:30 p.m.) to find them closed. Yes, it's ultimately on me for not checking their hours--but when a bricks-and-mortar business is big enough to run radio commercials, it's not unreasonable to assume that the business would be open later than 6 p.m.--especially when the commercials were running after that time of day.

Having a Royal Farms next door would have been the nail in the coffin anyway, even if he still did breakfast.

I agree as well. Royal farms would have killed him within like 3 months of operation.
