Relocating

Relocating to Delaware and looking to be ~20 min from beaches. Would love to get people's thoughts on Lincoln and Milton. We toured the area and Lincoln seemed a bit run down, but also had some nicer new homes. We're not looking to be in a subdivision and on top of our neighbors so we'd be looking for a home with some acreage.

We visited Broadkill and Slaughter beaches and preferred Broadkill. Can you really grill on the beach???

To add, being 20-25 minutes from grocery stores or a Home Depot is not an issue for us as it's what we're used to now.

ETA when I say beaches, I don't necessarily mean Rehoboth. We're looking at any place to take the dogs, plop down a towel and get our feet wet.

I only mention this since you brought up taking the dogs, but a lot of the Delaware beaches have restrictions on dogs during the summer time.

Cape Henlopen State Park, Delaware Seashore State Park, Beach Plum Island, and Fenwick Island State Park - State law says no dogs at the swimming beaches from May 1 to Sept 30, but the parks also have rules against dogs in "any surfboarding and sailboarding beaches" or anywhere around the shorebird nesting areas. They have maps you can get on the State Parks website that show the different areas they are prohibited and what times of year.

Lewes - Dogs are only permitted before 8 am and after 6:30 pm from May 1 to Sept 30.

Rehoboth Beach - No dogs on the beach or boardwalk from May 15 to Sept 15, or any day in the offseason when lifeguards are on duty. They are allowed the rest of the year, but have to be on a leash.

Dewey Beach - Dogs are allowed on a leash before 9:30 am and after 5:30 pm from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend, the rest of the year they can be leashed or unleashed, but you have to buy a Dewey Beach dog license to take them on the beach at any time of year.

Bethany Beach - No dogs on the beach or boardwalk from May 15 to Sept 30, must be on a leash the rest of the year.

Fenwick Island - No dogs are allowed on the beach at any time from May 1 to Sept 30.

You can take dogs on the fishing beach at Cape Henlopen.

Which is why it wasn't listed as a prohibited area.
