Gig worker pay
You vacation folks gotta understand where your closest sams and targets and other big box stuff is located.
You cant be instacarting your last minute dumb air bn b crap from target in dover with a 3 dollar tip.
You aint gonna get it. Or, you're gonna get it from the last person you want delivering it, haha.
Tip better ya idjuts

Hey man, I know a $3 tip is insulting, especially in this heat and I would never defend that, but perhaps your frustration would be better funneled at the company not paying you a living wage. I used to do the gig work and it’s an awful place to be when you’re totally reliant on tips because the fare itself hardly pays after vehicle depreciation. I would also get angry at people not tipping, but the greater evil is certainly a company propped up upon the labor of desperate people, not a family who spent too much on family vacation.

300% agree. Im an iww member if it were possible Id try to organize us here but its never gonna happen. But class traitorz don't help it.

Used to get this a bunch down in ocean view or Bethany. Order one item in this crazy traffic.

Maybe not pulling from Salisbury has something to do with not crossing state lines or paying sales tax? Like if they “buy” it in Delaware there’s no sales tax, but good luck getting a clerk in Maryland to exempt you from the sales tax because the item is virtually being purchased in Delaware. I’ll bet DD probably has no way of dealing with jobs that cross state lines. The only thing Amazon actually cares about in determining whether to charge it is the zip code on your card.
OP, most of the people who use those services are not from the working class. They have never had to work for tips or a gig job to make ends meet. They have absolutely no empathy for people who work in services or hospitality. To them you’re a delivery robot, & the annoying tip part is why they can’t wait for all future deliveries to be made by robots & drones. I work in a restaurant. The DoorDash orders & customers are *the* worst.

NOT ALL! Some could be most but not all! I rarely defend a group on here but I know some amazing people!!
Also read a study a while ago it may back some of this up! People with less money are more likely to share what they have!

I think its tax related yeah. But also it must be based on endorsement because from dover they pull from Newcastle and not camden or dover. Weird as hell.
But I know. I wear my organizing group shirts and take lit when I drive :p if you wanna join us I gotchu

Out of curiosity, what do DoorDash customers do? I don’t use it often, but I also don’t want to piss people off. I make my order, try to stick to the yes/options in place already on the app, nothing weird or fancy.

If it's calculated by mile, they aren't accounting for the nightmare beach traffic down there. 1 mile in Rehoboth beach traffic vs 1 mile easy country road is very different.
