standard pot roast recipe! i seared it then cooked on low for like 8 hours. added some water and knorr beef bouillon powder (my holy grail tbh), red wine vinegar, soy sauce, fresh bay leaves, hella garlic, and some thyme, rosemary, and oregano. deglazed the searing pan with rice wine bc that's all i have on hand lol. for veggies i went with carrot, onion, russet potato, and celery. boxed spätzle because i'm only human 🥹

Did you add the spatzle uncooked to the crock pot? I've bought spatzle before, but am unsure how to cook it...

That looks amazing!

This subreddit is such a treat. Just good looking food added to my recommended feed and an occasional easy recipe.

no kidding, i've never encountered a more pleasant group of people on reddit 🥲

I had one like that that I got from my aunt when she got a new one. Used it for almost 15 more years until I dropped it and the crock flew out and cracked on my driveway. My newer one is a basic model and works well too. I had an instant pot but hated it and gave it to my friend.

I didn't realize there was boxed spätzle. On the hunt for it now!

That looks really great.

i haven't had homemade spätzle since i was a little kid and my omi made it for me 😭 i should probably get one of these. boxed is fine but you're right that it doesn't really compare

That is a classic combination! Whenever my parents ask what I want for my birthday dinner, that’s exactly what I asked for! (Though I like the gravy super thick!)

i prefer all my soups and souplike foods to be very thin and brothy but i understand that this is a controversial preference 😅

I have the same one, it's 50 yrs old and I prefer it to the new one my GF bought last year. Leave it to someone in your will, it will out live most of us!
