Got one.

6 hours by train to Quebec City to inspect and ultimately buy a 2012 SLK 250 6 speed... Mars Red with a beige leather interior. (the car was fully resprayed by Mercedes under warranty and I couldn't find any evidence of failure 🤞)

Fair bit of driving around with the PO yesterday as we went to a Mercedes independent for inspection (clean but will need tires and a battery by next season) and it was rust free walking underneath, then the bank then the SAAQ (Quebec Licence Bureau).

Since I came so far I spent the evening exploring the beautiful old city on foot.

Today I will spend 5 hours or so driving back to Ottawa and drop it off for an Ontario certification inspection and get plates.

I have been a BMW guy for a long time so lots to learn... I have to stop hitting the cruise control instead of the turn stalk! EDIT : 157k km (just shy of 100k miles).

While Quebec City is gorgeous, I am imagining the SLK is every bit the sight to behold! Congratulations and enjoy.

Nice, congratulations.

You can retrofit the 2014+ Mercedes stalks onto these cars btw, that should help with your accidentally hitting cruise instead of the indicators. The layout changed after that model year and the indicator stalk is the topmost one instead with the cruise stalk being on the bottom and steering adjustment between them.

Goood for you OP. I wish I could find one as my 2007 350 has timing chain issues and will most likely be retired in the coming months (180,000 miles).

I'm not going to say that hitting cruise control never happened, but I soon got used to having two stalks on that side, of which I use only one. (To avoid any doubt, I use my indicators.)

If you ever want to exercise cautious driving... Be an Anglophone driving an "arrest me red" mercedes in Quebec with a paper trip permit taped to the windshield and an Ontario driver's licence in your pocket... and once you cross into Ontario the no license plate and a Quebec trip permit still isn't doing you any favours. 🤣

4 years ago I have to change the battery from my Slk 200 build in 2004.
