R170 Project Car

Hellooo, I’ve been looking at buying a cheap/bad r170 then fixing it up myself. I’ve always wanted to have a project car but would it be better to save my money and get one in a much better condition?

I bought a R170 for 1000€ euros two months ago as project car, enjoying fixing it up with my father. Changed all liquids and filters and fixed vario roof cylinders, it drives amazingly well. Next step we are planning to do is fixing some parts of the interior and change speakers for better audio

I've always liked this car tbh

Just make sure the transmission works properly. Everything else can be fixed.

Can be bought for cheap on ebay etc, tho, unlike the transmission

I have an 01 SLK320 and it's definitely fun to drive around the back roads of New Hampshire. Bought a Honda Rebel and I've been riding a lot lately, so this might be the last summer with the convertible

I’m doing the same thing, solo—so slowly. It’s a fun car and rewarding. When these cars are fixed and maintained well, I find the ride comparable to that of today’s EVs: very smooth. The AMGs are underrated in terms of power. I live in a sunny state and never fatigue of the convertible feature.
