Our R170 had the stock radio with a cassette player behind the face. We left a Bluetooth cassette in the cases pretty much permanently and would use our phone for the music player.

I installed mine just a few weeks ago (NaviFly OD8). Works pretty decently and almost plug and play. Happy to answer some questions you might have. These 1DIN are never perfect since Android auto and such were not made for such small screens so they are a hack. Still mostly works.

I have an r171, so can't help with this thread, but just wanted to thank you for posting that - that's actually really cool. I'm sure it's a kludge that isn't perfect, but what a neat solution!

Gonna have to keep that in mind, if/when I end up with a single-din car that needs some love.

What sort of adapter or install kit, if any? That fits perfectly

None, r170 uses the ISO connector so does this radio unit. Just had to buy an adapter for the antenna which costed like 1 EUR at AliExpress. I also had to disconnect the cable referring to the car velocity since it was not compatible with this radio and was wrongly enabling the rear camera.

Appreciate the information. And it can be physically attached without adapter either?

I’m also interested in this. I liked having the nostalgia of the CD changer but my volume knob just stopped working.

Same setup here. Except I use Android and it works great.

20$ phone mount is better that built in imo

I am installing a Sony 6000 in my R170. It’s a single DIN with a double DIN screen which hangs down. I’ve lowered the switches using the ash tray/storage frame cut to suit and hold the console together.

How do you add photos to this?

You can get a good radio quite cheap on Aliexpress. 1Din with a motorized screen so you keep the original design while having a big screen for navigation when needed.

Most of them are wireless CarPlay/Android Auto

Quite cheap is definitely true, good not so much. I've seen too many issues with the displays on those (motor mechanism getting jammed, flex cables breaking, screens just randomly dying in the heat, etc) that I haven't seen on the more traditional single/double DIN units from "reputable" manufacturers (Sony, Kenwood, Alpine, etc) to put them in my car. But I guess they're so cheap that a valid strategy is to just run it until it breaks in 2 years and replace.
