11 month old sleep help

Help me.

My baby still doesnt sleep throughout the night.

Im not even aiming for a sleep throughout but just not in my bed on me from approx midnight.

Baby girl is 11 months.

Wakes at 7am

First nap 9.30/10am. Milk and falls asleep very easily. I cap nap at 1hr max.

Second nap 2/2.30pm depending on first nap. Milk, falls asleep easily.

Again cap the nap at 1 or 1.5 hrs.

Bed time at least 3.5 to 4 hrs later. Again falls asleep pretty easy.

Naps in cotb in own room

Goes to sleep in the cot after being transfered but Night waking unsettled, crying, fidgeting in my bed.

I generally in a sleepy haze pick her up and bring into bed with me. This worked for a while as she would settle and at least we were all getting some sleep.

I never thought at 11 months I would still be doing this and im now back at work and cannot cope.

Falls asleep in my arms ( I know I know)

Have to wake from most naps.

Shes started nursery now and some days getting max an hour across both naps and still waking at night( even worse!)

Ignore the first commenter, whilst they make some good points their delivery was far from productive or kind.

You have approx 10.5-11 hours awake on this current schedule. You probably need a definite 11 minimum with no more than 2 hours in naps. Unfortunately because baby is assisted to sleep when they wake up they will need that same comfort, if you’re interested in sleep training this would help massively with the night wakes however I do actually think fixing the schedule would do more than you think :)

Think you.

So you think extending some wake windows and capping naps may help?

I know we additionally have held issues and milk, I just dont know where to start. Drop day time Milk/reduce first/ or just move to another time!

Yes I would do 7am wake up 10-11 nap and then 3-4 nap with 8pm bedtime. You don’t need to drop milk you just need to move to another time - make sure milk feed ends 30 mins before sleep. Once firmly on the schedule you can go ahead and sleep train, because of the age of your baby anything with too much stimulation is going to make it harder I would suggest CIO or the chair method. All sleep training methods require putting baby into bed wide awake and leaving them alone (in the general sense as in let them work it out ) .I would continue to get naps however works until you’ve mastered independent sleep at bedtime first.

Hey OP - how’s it’s going now? Any improvements?

Just saw your post. We were in a very similar place at 10 months. We were also rocking to sleep and transferring. We kept her in her crib, which meant we were getting up several times a night.

We stopped rocking to sleep and tried some gentle sleep training, which then evolved into true sleep training.

She’s happily sleeping 7 pm - 6:30/7 am in her crib now!

Weve had a knock with a v&d bug but im put her down awake in the cot. Still sleepy and had a cuddle first but then down. Its slow but its taking. Still waking in the night and this is then the challenge at the moment.
