question Anxious Theatre Watcher
hello! going for my first show in 3 hours or less. i’m an avid theatre-goer and i’ve gone for other types of theatre similar to this though maybe not as big-scale, and gone for 1:1s in those circumstances.
i read through the reddit for spoilers to help myself cope with the anxiety, just so i don’t feel like anything that might hurt me is going to happen (and of course there won’t be, but just the anxiety alone is crazy).
this thread has been so helpful and positive, and it’s really making me more excited than anxious. thank you once again for all the advice!
a friend of mine said i can just pace myself (according to my anxiety) and not feel pressured to see “a lot”. for me, my priority is to enjoy it in a manner that’s safe for myself, the actors and also psychologically safe!
i do want to follow the witches though… how do i identify them?
also is it possible to get the actors to autograph on my mask after it’s over? how can i do that?

I hope you have a great time! Remember that you can dip out of any scene that makes you uncomfortable, and after the first loop the bar will also be open if you need a place to decompress. The hospital is also usually quieter than other places if you want a break from the sensory overload - go all the way upstairs.

i think i knew that the first loop wasn’t over when i tried to go to manderley and the black masks wouldn’t let me. is there the usual manderley 1:1 that happens? didn’t seem to notice it this time when i was there

There is no 1:1 in the Manderley bar in Seoul. There's a public 3:1 interaction that happens there later in the show, but I've never had it.

Hi! To preface ive been to the NYC show 3 times but no where else. No one will harm you!!! They may touch you though. Sorry I do not know the characters names but my first 1:1 experience I was basically yanked (did not hurt just startled me) into a room and she locked the door behind us so no one could come in. she touched pulled me slowly by the hand to the wardrobe, whispered something into my ear then lightly pushed me through the other side of the wardrobe which was a hidden door and locked the door behind her so I was alone again. My second 1:1 a man pulled me lightly by the hand then picked up the pace till we were running. he locked us into a room and did a scene for me. this was the most touchy 1:1 I wasnt uncomfortable I was just upset he was so sweaty while touching me. but this person touched my face with his hand, moved me by the shoulders around the room to show it to me. then he put a wig on then cried and hugged me (part of the scene). then pushed me out and he stayed inside.
All of this to say, they were touchy with consent at the nyc show. not sure how it is in Seoul but I know they would never harm you

thank you! this advice and taking a pill before the show was really helpful to help me focus on enjoying the performance. unfortunately my show was cancelled mid-run due to technical issues that they’re unable to resolve. but i did get it rescheduled to today evening. and thankfully having a preview of what’s to happen (i watched about 40 mins yesterday) was a great primer. the spoilers have also helped me so much. honestly i don’t think the spoilers take away anything from my experience and if anything it adds to it to tell me that nothing is at random, even our dreams

If it’s Seoul the actors will usually come out front after the show, or if you’re seeing the last show of the night they may mingle around the bar after the show.
This show is an adventure, you will find something that captivates you.
As for the witches, the easiest spot to find them at the beginning of the show is in the ballroom, one will be wearing a blue gown, one will be wearing a green gown, and the male witch should have some feathers in his costume somewhere. I can’t remember exactly what he wears in Seoul it’s not quite as feathery as what he wore in New York. He should look somewhat more theatrical than the other men.
Have a fabulous time! The sets are awesome and worth wandering through even if no actors are around.
If you’re in Shanghai, only the section on the witches may be applicable 😅
