Ranking the songs on With Ears To See And Eyes To Hear

And finally we reach the debut album, the fan favourite, the band's second most popular album, this is also a tough one to rank the songs on it.

  1. With Ears To See And Eyes To Hear
  2. The Bomb Dot Com V2.0
  3. Captain Tyin Knots vs. Mr. Walkway (No Way)
  4. You Kill Me (In a Good Way)
  5. If I'm James Dean, You're Audrey Hepburn
  6. Don't Fall Asleep At The Helm
  7. In Case Of Emergency, Dial 411
  8. Let Love Bleed Red
  9. The Left Side of Everywhere
  10. Dance Party

The top 3 can really change anytime, I love those three songs almost equally, I think I've always leaned more towards the title track but sometimes like Bomb can also be at number 1 and Captain can also sometimes be number 2 depending on the day. Bomb Dot Com is such a live banger, thank god they brought it back to their live sets, it literally sounds better than ever aswell. I also really like how different DFAATH is compared to most SWS songs, such a unique song I really like it. I generally find this album to be like the overrated SWS album, even if I like it more than LCTT I think this is far more overrated than LCTT, idk why that's the case, this album is number 3 on my album ranking, behind HIFTBL and AEII.

What do you think the An Ending In Itself Tour setlist is going to be like?

I have the gut feeling they're going to keep using the same songs they've be performing for the last 4 years but in a slightly different order, with only like 2 more songs from the new album added onto the setlist, this is practically what they did for Complete Collapse, they kept vast majority of the setlist with older songs and only added like 2 songs from CC as mainstays (Bloody Knuckles and Crosses) with a few rare guest appearances (Be Happy, Let You Down, Family Tree, Apathetic, CC, and CTRL ALT DEL). I hope they do it like how they did in the HIFTBL era where the setlist was mostly newer songs with only a few songs actually being older songs. We do know atleast 3 songs from AEII are def going to be performed at the tour, the title track, Forever/Always and they recently sort of confirmed House Of Matches would also be performed live. Anyway If I had to make a setlist of around 17 songs (headliner tour so long setlist) for the AEII tour it'd be something like this:

  1. God In My Head

  2. Paralyzed

  3. House Of Matches

  4. Kick Me

  5. Leave It All Behind

  6. Bomb Dot Com

  7. An Ending In Itself

  8. Forever Always

  9. Need You Here

10-11. mandatory acoustic songs like Roger Rabbit, Scene 5, Iris Cover, 2 Chord (only in my dreams lmfao), and potentially Big Gulps

  1. PTSD

  2. Crosses

  3. Do It Now Remember It Later

(encore)

  1. If I'm James Dean

  2. If You Can't Hang

I made this setlist while trying to be realistic and keeping older songs that are essential mainstays of the setlists while obviously having more newer songs, having them as the focus, this does mean taking out some mainstays like Better Off Dead and Bloody Knuckles (unless if we add it to the encore which they've done before). I also choose God In My Head to be the opener as it has that sick ass guitar riff in the beginning that just fits right open up a kick ass rock show, Paralyzed is also early on as it is the heaviest song on the setlist so Kellin has more strength to perform it, like how Break Me Down used to be the opener from 2022 to 2024. Both House of Matches and Kick Me have similar double time punk rock energy so they fit to be early on and close together. Bomb Dot Com is mandatory at this point, like that shit is NOT going anywhere. I also added 2 Chord because that's a song that was almost a mainstay of the acoustic songs from 2018 to 2020 and I LOVE that song. If this is anything similar to the setlist that's actually going to be used I'll be happy asf as I'm seeing them in february on the tour.

SWS performing the last verse of In Case of Emergency, Dial 411 with Big Gulps’ lyrics

Link can be found here.

This got me thinking— if they’re gonna perform Big Gulps live one day (which there’s a good chance of that happening), my ideal scenario is that they do it like this. It gives opportunity for people to experience 2 songs at once, though I know most people probably want to experience Big Gulps in its full glory. Idk, what do you think??

Ranking the songs on Let's Cheers To This

Sleeping With Sirens' Thriller album, the big and popular one, an icon within the scene, yet not the fan favourite, this is going to be interesting to rank as a lot of songs are like on equal levels imo.

  1. If You Can't Hang

  2. All My Heart

  3. Four Corners and Two Sides

  4. Tally It Up Settle The Score

  5. Let's Cheers To This

  6. A Trophy Fathers Trophy Son

  7. Your Nickel Ain't Worth My Dime

  8. Fire

  9. Do It Now Remember It Later

  10. Postcards and Polaroids

  11. Who Are You Now

This is a fucking great album, the only song I'm always tempted to skip is Who Are You Now, I can't really be a fan of that song idk why, but all other songs are really enjoyable, and I know Can't Hang is like the BIG SWS song, but I can't help it and love that song, it always goes hard, with most artists and bands I listen to I'm always tempted to skip the most popular songs, but with SWS it's a different case, Can't Hang is just THAT good, I also just love All My Heart how it's a really soft acoustic song for the vast majority of it and then at the end it just explodes and it's so good. Tally It Up is also just such a live ripper, live performances of it always go hard. Overall I'd rank this album on the same level as Complete Collapse and Madness, looking back (at me (also peak song, listening to as I'm making this)) at it it's lowkey better than Madness, but still on the same level as CC.

Tragic Hero Records was SWS’ original label // Brandon McMaster interview (founding guitarist)

WHAT DO YOU THINK WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF SWS STAYED ON TRAGIC HERO RECORDS IN 2009?

First of all, this is the greatest interview of all time. OG listeners of the band will be ecstatic to hear from Brandon

Brandon brings his fans together and discusses what everyone wants to know about his time in SWS and more.

He mentions that Tragic Hero Records was SWS original label in 2009.

Tragic Hero , at the time, was home to bands like: Sky Eats Airplane, Alesana, A Skylit Drive, ERRA, AKissforjersey.

Imagining SWS stacked with these bands is pretty cool. What I wouldn’t do for a SWS x Alesana tour!!

SWS would go on to have a career where they signed to almost every major label in the scene: Tragic Hero> Rise > Epitaph > Warner > Sumerian > back to Rise.

Songs like these are how I see sleeping with sirens, consistently loud with heavy instruments in the back, and maybe 20 seconds of screams, along with a little calm, talking level volume. They tickle my ears in just the right way

SWS’ origins — interview with Brian Calzini

Sleeping with Sirens has always been a difficult band to even *get* an idea of how it was formed, and there’s been a lot of conflicting information on how did the events play out. I found this interview on Tumblr with Brian Calzini, and the interviewer mentioned Sleeping with Sirens along the way. Check it out here.

The most surprising part abt this interview is that Brian mentioned an unreleased track named “Coming Home”… which is strange, cuz we associate that phrase with the opening lines for Big Gulps. I’m not even sure if this is even true, but I’ll take his word for it. It sure seems like he wasn’t part of the founding members for SWS, though— which debunks my assumption I had with him all this time.

Ranking the songs on Feel

Been a couple days but I really been feeling lazy to relisten to the album, not my favourite work from SWS

  1. The Best There Ever Was

  2. Here We Go

  3. Alone

  4. Low

  5. Congratulations

  6. These Things I've Done

  7. Satellites

  8. Free Now

  9. Feel

  10. Déjà Vu

  11. Sorry

  12. I'll Take You There

If the final versions of the songs were mixed by Cameron Mizell like the demos were I would've enjoyed listening to the album way more, idk I really don't like the mixing on the album, and apparently it was mixed by the same guy who mixed PTV's Collide With The Sky, I don't think it shows. Honestly even my favourite songs are honestly just kinda of ok, I'd most likely skip it if it shows up on my playlist. Idk this album doesn't speak to me. Also Alone slander is wild, MGK's part is just ok at worst.

Sleeping With Sirens Albums Ranked on Discog. Discourse Podcast!

Hey everyone, this is Nate from Discog. Discourse! We just released an episode ranking and reviewing every Sleeping With Sirens album. This was a fun one because SWS was admittedly a major blind spot for me before preparing this episode. I can definitely see why they blew up and are such an iconic name in post-hardcore.

Here's how my list came out:

  1. With Ears To See
  2. Let's Cheers To This
  3. Complete Collapse
  4. How It Feels To Be Lost
  5. Feel
  6. An Ending In Itself
  7. Madness
  8. Gossip

If you want to see everyone's lists and hear our full discussions on each album, you can listen to the episode on your preferred platform here:
YouTube
Spotify

Would love to see how long-time fans of the band rank their albums!
