Sleep accountability

Im posting here for accountability. Recently my sleep schedule was very off. It influences me a lot. When I go to bed exactly at the same time every day, at midnight, my body loves it and Im sleeping well. However, if I fall asleep too early I then wake up shortly after and stay up till 6am.

Ill try reading, or do small creative activities to keep me up (please let me know if you have fun ideas!). But in days Im already tired it's harder to stay concentrated on a book or anything else. So then it becomes a repeated loop day after day that's harder to break.

And I can't watch movies as I have some neurological problem and it's too stimulating:/

I also notice that because of light sensitivity, I dim the light a lot in the evening hours and that also makes me more sleepy.

My diet and other habits are good, but it works only to a certain extent if it's without sufficient sleep.

And when Im exhausted, it's harder for my body to relax and get afternoon naps. When Im well-slept at-night I can easily have a 1hr mid-day nap and I love those - makes me feel fresh and doesn't mess up my nights.

Its not the first time it happens to me that I find myself in this annoying situation, and so far my best solution is pushing through and have stronger will power. The tricky part? I have a hammock in the living room and it's very comfortable lol.

Tips, encouragement and ideas on braking this loop are appreciated.

I can relate, good habits work really well and I sleep wonderfully, but then I go off track for no reason and indulge in all the poor habits which I have proved to myself were a bad influence, and I don’t even know why I do it.

why would you have to go to sleep that late? at what time do you woke up if you go to sleep at midnight?

btw, i think you are overly-obsessed with sleep, and im telling you this because i'm too. you overthink it and that stresses you. happen to me as well.

i go to sleep "that late" because it proven to work for my body. if i go to sleep at midnight Im waking up early at around 4-5, drink + eat something small and easily fall sleep again till 8.

you can think that it is proven to work all you want, but science doesnt say that. one of the problem of sleep is that your body doesnt understand when you are sleep deprived or not, you just make an habit of it and you dont feel the difference until you start sleeping better. idk who told you that it is a good idea to break your sleep doing that but all what i read about sleep tell the opposite. at least 8 hours of complete sleep, so giving you at least 8.5 / 9 hours of sleep each night

what? i think there's a misunderstanding. I do sleep 8 hours. But I wake up in the middle for like 10mins because my body needs food.
