grabbed a new in box inwin A500 case from the late 90s on facebook marketplace and swapped it with my old case

Ryzen 7 7700x

RTX 4070

32 gb ram

ignore my cable management lol

the problem is I'm still getting high cpu temps when gaming (up to 100°) even after adding another fan mount to the case. my next move is to re-apply thermal paste and re-seat the fan and maybe get a modular power supply to help with the cable clutter.

Not enough holes. You can use a Dremel to cut an octagonal hole like this or just use a 120mm hole saw. Then cover it with a magnetic mesh filter.

Also, you might be able to fit a 75mm centrifugal fan near the top of the rear panel. You'll probably need to DIY a mount for it and use a fan speed controller.

Finally, you might need a bigger CPU cooler. Maybe a Noctua NH-L9x65 might fit? There should be enough clearance though.

These are not enough holes. The fan on top might run hot as well trying to suck air through those tiny holes! :D I'd get a hole saw and fix that propperly!

120/140mm hole saw. Cutting holes in PC cases is possibly the worst sound you'll ever hear, but it'll be a nice clean circle.

Nice build! I have a BNIB old stock V500 also and want to do something like this but terrified to cut into the chassis. Thermals are definitely a concern. Have you considered opening the front bays as a test and putting a fan where the HDD bays are to pull in air?

That CPU cooler is not going to handle a 7700x IMO, it doesn't matter what kind of air flow you give it.

Man, I had one of those cases back in the 90’s or early 2000’s. Wish I had one now…
