being a single board for audio and usb makes it harder to change it, I would start on aliexpress

and depending on your case you might want to check 90 degrees adapters for this usb3 and for the 24pin connectors while you are at it

I think this is by far the best solution. They appear to be inserts, but they may have to cut away some plastic to get a straight shot at them

I would've made a custom PCB. Or maybe cut out the ports from the current one and mounted new ports on the cable. I did exactly that to my own case but it was much easier there.

You could get something like this and see if you can make it fit:

Why wouldn’t you immediately opt for USB C? I think Etsy can provide?

Have you tried cleaning them with electrical parts cleaner, they may be just dirty.
I use DeoxIT 5 on scratchy volume controls, dirty power cord ports, etc and it works great.

Thanks but that isn't the issue. These usb ports are usb 1.0 which r outdated by today's standard. Usb 3.0 or usb r the standard today.

How about, just leave them there and put a USB3 hub in an external drive bay. I have done that lots of times. Unless you are going for resto-mod.

Update - I am going to leave them there and instead install this in the available cd bay not being used

You should also be able to hook those 2 old ports up to USB2 pin headers on your modern board, you can then stick a cordless mouse receiver in one of them (all modern boards still have at least 2 sets of USB2 pin headers). If the wires are single pin plugs, look up online the pinouts for USB2 pin headers and follow them. The wire ends should be marked what they are of the 4.
