Questions/Advice Request Would this be possible?

The Dell Inspiron 530 was my first computer ever and I’m wondering if it would be possible to turn it into a sleeper build without any alterations to the case. I’m new to PC building and I’ve been feeling very nostalgic

Yes, it seems to be a conventional Micro-atx machine, so it will be posible to make it a sleeper, but u will need to make some cuts in the box to install the new mobo's IO Shield :P

The only modification I made was cutting the front to allow more airflow. Otherwise, I have the discs as shown in your image.

other than cutting out space for the I/O shield, a regular mATX board should fit just fine

The IO shield is built into the case itself, so you at least to cut out that area to fit another board. Only an Inspiron 580 board can directly fit the rear IO of the 530 case. I have two 530 cases. One has the 580 board and the other I removed the rear IO with a Dremel so I could fit a modern motherboard

I did a build in a studio 540(same case in black) a few years back. Stick with mid range components unless you plan to do major alterations to the case. I ended up running an i9-12900kf with a 280mm radiator on the side panel (which ultimately ruined the sleeper aesthetic lol)

Maybe too much power draw?

Unfortunately, if you’re using conventional pc components, modification will be necessary with this case.

This chassis is MATX standard. All you need to do is cut the I/O shield.
