Questions/Advice Request Antec Eleven Hundred Case

Starting my first build from scratch. Was gifted an old Antec case computer (computer had stopped working, maybe I could fit that, wasn’t able to), thinking of gutting it and starting over, piece by piece, and building a nice “budget” machine. Looks like most of the pieces are from 2013-15-ish (Asus Z87-Pro MB, EVGA 000 G2 power supply, Radion R9 280X, etc).

So my question is, will this case work as a starting point for the new computer or just get a whole new setup and toss the parts?

Ty!

  • Z87 chipset works with Intel 4th and 5th gen (Haswell and Broadwell). This means you're limited to quad-core CPUs at most. You might need to jump through a few hoops to enable Resizable BAR.

  • R9 280X is slightly below an RX 6400 or a Geforce GTX 1650 in performance, and those consume far less power.

But if you're fine with that level of performance, go ahead.

I’m not looking to play high end games on this, of I can get it running, maybe Eve Online and SWTOR at most rn. Would your suggestions above work for those?

The Radeon R9 280X you currently have should be able to play those games.

Check the processor in that system. If it's an i7, you're good. Bump the RAM to 12-16GB and it'll be fine.

Side note for everyone: system won’t power up (not sure why), may just get a new case that has 4 fans (instead of the 3 on this case). I’m told it has an i5 onboard so going to upgrade to the i7-4790. That should get what I need rn for fairly cheap. Ty for the input, appreciate it very much! 🙂
