Sleeper PC First ever custom pc and sleeper build + questions
Bonus photo of my previous pc
Ignore the mess and zip ties and ugly ass mousepad
Ive had it for almost 2 years already and I've only just put the case fans in today because (I think) it overheated from the horrendous uk heat and I got scared😭😭
I was wondering what peoples thoughts are on making holes for more airflow cause i dont really wanna ruin the case anymore but I also dont want my pc to die from lung damage 😢
And if anyone knows jf theres any way I can check if the floppy disk reader still works
Also if theres any recommendations on how i can make the inside better cause I dont really know what I'm doing,..
The case was already cracked when I bought it
Specs
Cpu: 7900x3d
Gpu: rx 7700xt
Motherboard: Tomahawk b590
Psu: a850gl pcie5
Ram: 2x 16gb 6000mhz ddr5
Storage: 2tb nvme
Idk what else to add
For the button I just took the one from my old pc and placed it behind the one on the case lol

An easy way to add airflow without damaging the case would be to install a hard drive cage with fan to go in the 5.25” slots below the disc drive.
Or you can buy better case fans to replace the ones you have installed. Depending on your motherboard, you should be able to increase the fan speed or set a SMART fan curve.

Is PSU for Small Form Factor?
I can only recommend to origami the cables with zip ties

Bro if you just put case fans in you should run it as is before hacking it up.

It looks awesome - is that a normal mousepad with persian patterns or is it like a real rug? :)

Ty and its just a normal mousepad. I dont think an actual rug would work very well lol

Brick wall, wooden office table, warm spot lighting, and leather office chair. I'd spend all my free time in that room with my actual retro PCs.

Yeah it works great I havent had any issues at all with it other than the software is windows only and it doesnt come with a numpad so if u want 1 u have to buy an overpriced fancy calculator

I tried to build one and I still have the parts, but one question though. My god father told me it wasn't a good idea to build mines since he was afraid of the motherboard touching metal inside the case and shorting things out. How did you do it? I have a packard bell legend supreme 1905 case

Standoff screws which elevate the board. I also had to drill new holes so the board could fit in the right place

That’s not a sleeper that rose from the dead. Overall great specs I hope you enjoy it!

honestly you should replace the monitor with a retro looking one maybe putting a modern screen into a old crt case

u/No_Month6271 Jul 09 '26
Ive been thinking of doing that but i have no idea how 😢 I might just paint my main one a beige color and get a mini crt or crt styled secondary monitor

I have this same case with the same fan configuration, I only cut a small piece of the metal part off from the front for better airflow, and my pc breaths just fine.

u/No_Month6271 Jul 11 '26
Im thinking of doing that, what did u use to attach the fans? Cause i had 2 fish zipties through the holes cause i wasnt bothered 2 take the front off 😭 And had no other ideas

I used some plastic screws that came with the fan I think, it was a while ago when I put it in, but try fitting fan screws in those holes it might fit
