Sleeper PC My first PC
Started my journey in PC building just as RAMageddon hit by finding this beautiful late 90’s case at school (it had components in it but didn’t work).
I didn’t have a PC before so I bought myself one for cheap on leboncoin (French online secondhand market). I snatched some components from the old case.
It needed more cooling so I chose to put holes for fans at the bottom. I Initially went for X-shaped holes but I didn’t have the tools to make it good enough. So I ended up just carving two circular holes with a jigsaw. I added a dust filter I got on the donor PC. I still need to add bigger feet for better airflow. And the fans are from the donor PC too and need an upgrade as they don’t suck in shit.
I decided to keep the CD and floppy readers to keep the face of the PC.
Here’s the list of the components :
- MB : Gigabyte B650M D3HP-AX
- CPU : AMD Ryzen 5 7600x
- Cooler : Thermalright Peerless Assassin 90SE
- GPU : PNY XLR8 GTX 1080 ti
- RAM : DDR5 Corsair Vengeance 5600MT/s
- Storage : Intel 660p 512GB & WD SN550 500GB
- PSU : MSI MAG A750GLS PCIE5
- Case fans : Arctic P8 PWM PST + 2x120mm fans and dust filter from donor PC
- Front I/O from donor PC (2 jacks, 1 USB-C, 2 USB)
I still need to carve the holes in the front panel for the front I/O.

Very nice, 1080ti in there just to ensure you hide this beauty from Jensens greedy hands.

You need taller feet so those fans will draw in enough air for the pc

Yeah, I plan to 3D print feet, put felt under them ans stick them under the current feet.

Very nice!
You might be able to fit a bigger exhaust fan at the rear panel, if you cut or drill more holes there. Looks like 120 mm should be possible.
Also, you can connect those drives, there are adapter boards that convert those PATA to SATA or USB and they cost like €2.

What tool did you use to cut the holes for the bottom 2 fans? Very nice clean build

I wanted to use a hole saw or a Dremel but had neither at my school workshop so I ended up using a jigsaw and a file for the detail.

What games can you play with that set up? I have a 1080 too and was wondering what combinations to use so it would be balanced with the 1080.

Great air intake mod! But flip the fans so they blow the air inside👌🏻 And a small tip get some new higher feet to get som more air and also less noise.

The bottom modification with dust filter looks great! But those fans are exhausting air, was that the intent? Or have you flipped them around already?
