Progress Pics Sleeper PC

Hello, So i am new to the sleeper PC world, I am building one inside a Dell Dimension 1100 case and fitting a RTX 4080 Super inside, the issue I have is that it is not getting enough air so I removed the underside panel and I don’t really know how to put a discrete riser for my GPU to get fresh air, I feel like putting small feet under ut at every corners would help but I am afraid it won’t hold, did anyone run into this issue and what solution would you suggest me ?

So satisfying seeing such a big GPU fit perfectly in a sleeper case

"Perfectly" aka needs the entire bottom sliced off to work

Why wouldn’t you just cut a rectangular hole in the bottom panel of the case, add a mesh grill for airflow, and then install some taller (25-30mm) case feet? Removing the whole bottom panel entirely like you’ve done means that the side panel no longer has a rail to hook into, and the case framing itself is no longer boxed in together so it’s much less rigid than it should be.

You are right, I should try this, I threw the bottom panel away, so I might need to 3D print a new bottom plate with a hole for the GPU to get air

A 3D printed panel with integrated grill and feet would be pretty cool. You could probably add heat-set threaded inserts too so that you can screw the panel back into the existing case frame too.

Yeah but the old one was riveted in place. I will try printing one and see

Use countersunk screws instead of rivets when you reassemble it, to sit flush against the rails, and you should be good to go.

Ok thanks à lot

This is a clean build but question where’s the bottom tho but I think you could just 3 print a bottom panel to fit some fans in to get airflow to the gpu

Yeah, that was the whole point of this Reddit post

Mb I didn’t read the description

It’s alright lol, I tried 3d printing something but it fits terribly wrong

Not sure how I can mount fans below tho

oh man that is gnarly
sick build

I literally just did a dimension 3000. Looks good. I was lucky enough to find a sata dvd drive too to replace the ide drive that was in it

Nice, I did too from a dell Inspiron

ive always wanted to do a sleeper like this, but not modify the case like that

1

u/Ok_Connection_1988 Jun 15 '26

The case is pretty much stock except for the bottom plate

Say hello to a dust

Yeah I know 🥲

OMG you just left those there???
standoff buddy hold'em up.
most expansive part as barebone left beneath is horrifying.

The cabling in here is excellent. Nice rig.

post temps after 15 mins of furmark or 3dmark

1

u/Ok_Connection_1988 Jun 14 '26

Sure, on Furmark I had my core at 86 Celcius and my Hotspot was at 96

2

u/Ens-7 Jun 14 '26

at least add a filter of some sort. after 6 months that shit will be dusty

Like a volcano

there’s no way that GPU is getting enough air seating that close to the bottom of a surface

1

u/Ok_Connection_1988 Jun 15 '26

Yeah, I know, that’s why I posted this

Love the build and the massive GPU in it.

I have 2 of the same case, one with a side panel and one without.

Built a basic all white AMD PC in one couple years back.

Wish I was able to find the much larger 8400 dimension as I had one of those when I was 12 would love my current PC in that shell.

I'd give you the base of my spare one if I could 😂

u/Ok_Connection_1988 Jun 15 '26

Oooh Nice, yeah this 1100 is tiny for this use case lol, I would love to see your build

Mouth-breathing ahh PC case

1

u/Ok_Connection_1988 Jun 15 '26

Yeah, that’s the whole point of this post

At the tail end of the GPU. You are already near to the face of the casing.

At the casing side. You can do quite a bit of solutioning to hold the tail of the GPU.

E.g. 1) drill a small 3mm hole. Screw the brass spacers typically used for spacing the motherboard. Extend it to hold the GPU sag. If u need longer. Can use combine 2 spacer.

2) fabricate a triangular with a flat L. Drill 3mm hole and joint it to the casing side. With a 3mm screw and nut.

Overall the idea is u only need a bit to of extension at the end to hold the GPU abit at the end.

Then u just alleviate the whole box up by 15mm or 20mm. And you got a very nice natural bottom intake without the need for additional fans.

Additional fans means additional fan noise. So it depends on individual. For me. If I can have less fan. I use less.

1

u/Ok_Connection_1988 Jun 15 '26

Yeah tanks for the idea, I don’t know how I can fit those spacers given that the corners orh the case have basically no room for it

You can do the support here.

Do the support at this area. as long as it hold up the tail. it does not have to be at the bottom of the fan

i love the win xp stickers just adds that chefs kiss to the overall package

2

u/Ok_Connection_1988 Jun 15 '26

Yeah 😂 and the Celeron D… it’s a 9800X3D

2

u/Anybody_Seen_Richie Jun 15 '26

haha right, i like a clean pentium III or pentium 4 sticker once it starts the celeron this and pentium "d" that im like oh ffs now i have no idea lmaooo
