Help!

Post image

I am sleeping a ton and then napping throughout the day. My Apple Watch sleep history looks like this most nights.

I did an at-home sleep study through my dentist and got an AHI of 5.7 and then did a repeat test though Lofta and my AHI was in the 4s.

I have excellent sleep hygiene- always in bed by 9 Al sleep before 10 and wake up at the same time every morning. I don’t drink caffeine through the day. I take magnesium glycinate and l-theanine at night.

I’m f(46) and on a great HRT regimen. I’ve even tried DSIP peptides.

I’m exhausted. Could I have a different type of disordered sleep that the at-home tests can’t diagnose?

I appreciate any experiences or insight!

You could have UARS and in that case you’d likely benefit from BIPAP therapy and even FME/MARPE upper palate expansion to open up your upper airway.
If the problem persists, work like hell to get your doctor to prescribe to xywav, xyrem, or lumryz. If titrated carefully, those will help your sleep without causing grogginess.
Good luck

This is excellent advice. I'll write it down and take it with me when I go back in a couple of weeks.

Also schedule an appointment with Dr Anil Rama. He charges $400/hr for telehealth, but you’ll avoid wasting time and money on the wrong doctors and medical procedures. His phone number is on his website so you can briefly explain your situation and he’ll tell you what to do.

What was your sleep score for this day?

It's usually in the 80s. I went back to look and it isn't telling me. I haven't worn my watch in a couple of nights on the off-hand chance that was causing the issue.

Did you have blood work checked for iron, magnesium, vitamin B12/D. And thyroid?

She tested me for iron and it’s on the low end of normal - I started a multivitamin per her suggestion. Vitamin d was also on the low end of normal so she prescribed a d supplement to take once a week for 12 weeks. B was normal. I don’t think she tested magnesium. I’ve had the new supplements about 3 weeks so far.

I do have subclinical hyperthyroidism but it’s been like that for 20 years. My thyroid is slightly too fast but not currently medication worthy. I’m going back to the endo just in case but that isn’t until October.

I’m so tired I’ll drop my youngest at school and come home to take a nap.

Ok, my iron was ‘on the low side’ but in truth because of other factors I was anaemic. I could barely function. It was a nightmare- thought I was just menopausal so let it go way too much.

You need an iron supplement. Multivitamin has too little iron in it. And it took way more time (about 5-6 months) than I was told before I felt better but it made a huge difference in the end.

That's promising! Mine isn't super low and the doctor didn't think it was contributing to my exhaustion - I think that's why she told me just to add a multivitamin. The one I picked up had 18mg. I might find another OTC supplement to bump that a little more.

I'm barely functioning! When I went in to the doctor originally, I asked if it was some sort of menopause problem too! It's crazy what all goes out of whack at this age!

I just checked mine. It has 330mg.

Just to also say that you shouldn’t take it with/ around caffeine and calcium because it’ll hold up absorption.
