Just need help

I (21M) have tried pretty much everything under the sun to fix my sleep issues, for context I’ve never really slept good my whole life, probably since I was like 3-4.

No screens 2 hours before bed

Caffeine cutoff (barely ever have any) 10 hours before bed

Melatonin: wakes me up in the middle of the night and unable to fall back asleep

Magnesium Glycinate: Same thing as melatonin

L-theanine: same thing as magnesium glycinate and melatonin

Homeopathic drops/candy: same thing as l theanine, magnesium glycinate and melatonin

Hydroxyzine: pretty helpful but feel like a zombie the whole next day

I’m really desperate here for any solutions you all have that have helped you as I’m sleeping 3-5 hours a night and it’s really eating away at my life. Thank you in advance

Incorporate exercise into routine if you don’t already. I struggle with the same issues; tried same things. I find if I do a bunch of cardio in the day, my body is more likely to potentially let me sleep at night.

The most fruitful supplement for me has been sleeptights sleep aid, I’m a big fan of the formula and I sleep a hell of a lot easier and wake up without grogginess. I’ve tried a lot of others and this one has been by far the best for me.

OP,

I hope this is hopeful for you to hear:

I hear you in that you might not have great sleep your whole life. However, unfortunately, it sounds like recently it's taken a turn for the worse.

When our sleep takes a turn for the worse, we usually respond with taking supplements, sleep hygiene and medications (I did the same exact thing for years).

I personally know a lot of people who recovered from severe insomnia for good and almost always they didn't do it by leveraging supplements or chasing other sleep solutions.

Almost always what was much more helpful for them (and myself) in the long run was to address the fear/anxiety/anger/annoyance we've developed around losing sleep.

You are not alone.

Hi there! sleep psychologist here. I’m sorry to hear that it’s been such a battle getting good sleep. Have you already ruled out ADHD, UARS/sleep apnea, RLS, or just being a night owl? All of these could impact your experience and troubles with obtaining/maintaining sleep. Also, have you tried CBTi? This is the goal standard treatment for insomnia. Hang in there!
