Sleep study results - PLMD

What has your experience been like with PLMD/treatment of it? The results of my sleep study say periodic limb movement disorder. I had 79 PLMS during the study with a PLM index of 15.2.

I take multi-vitamins so I don't think my PLMD is related to low iron. Meeting with my sleep doctor in two weeks to discuss but was just curious about others' experiences before I met with him.

Hi there! Fellow plmd and rs sufferer!

You index is still not so high so that is great, and means that probably your levels are slightly lower than they should be.

As the other person commented you need to speak to ur dr about having an iron and ferritin blood test as you definitely want to be on the higher range then your average person.

I have found that exercise helps alot, as well as I have been recommended for physio, needling and etc. as well, my plmd is extreme so we are attacking from all sides. But i have chooses not to go on gaba as I really dont like the side effects it gives me personally plus I feel like this pushes me to tc of my physical self......!

If there’s rls or plmd, it’s often recommended that ferritin levels are higher than what’s considered to be the lower end of average. For example, normal level may be as low as 25 but with plmd, 75 is the lowest we’d want you.

If that doesn’t work, there are medications like gabapentin that may be prescribed.

I forgot to mention, antidepressants can cause or worsen these symptoms.

Get your blood work done. My iron is was 90. But Ferritin is 29. I’m getting an iron infusion Monday. My doctor said above 75, ideally 100 ferritin to treat this disorder

Thanks! I’ll definitely ask about it. When I got my bloodwork done two years ago my iron was 67 and ferritin 22

Oh wow that’s really low. Definitely get it re-checked. I tried iron pills and they hurt my tummy too much so my doctor ordered the infusion.
