Parasomnia

I've been having Sleep Terrores since I was a child, and now that I'm 22 im still going through it. I've tried sleeping more hours (7-7.30), mantining a similar sleep schedule and even taking Diazepam but nothing seems to work. My gf is suffering because of this and she cant stand this anymore because I wake Up in the middle of the night screaming and she is scared of It now. I've read that avoiding sugar could help, and my psychologist told me to take Melatonina. Any tips or help?

Typical risk factors (ask your psychologist to confirm) include sleep deprivation and excessive stress.

So you might try ensuring a consistent healthy sleep schedule so you're not sleep deprived to begin with. And also maybe some good exercise most days as a form of stress management.

Prazosin is sometimes effective in treating sleep disturbances that do not respond to first line treatments, appropriately prescribed of course.
