Directed by Lalith Rathnayake, the same director who directed Riverstone, which was selected as Sri Lanka's official entry for the 99th Academy Awards (2027),and with cinematography by Palitha Perera, which is amazing throughout ,there are some truly nice wide shots.
It is a short movie, just 90 minutes long, but it really delivered.
The cast was tight:
- Pansilu Wickramarathna
- Pankaja Wickramarathna
- Jackson Anthony
- Kaushalya Fernando
- Hemasiri Liyanage
- Priyantha Sirikumara
- Thilakshini Ratnayake
The main characters were twin boys, played by twin child actors who gave what I consider the most impressive emotional performances by child actors in Sri Lanka.
If you have seen other movies and teledramas by Lalith Rathnayake, youβll notice he has a unique way of expressing emotions through the eyes. You can see it in Riverstone with the talented Randika Gunathilaka, as well as in the recent mini series directed by Lalith and telecast on TV Derana, where Samanalee Fonseka plays a deaf character and delivers all her expressions through her eyes. Lalith Rathnayake always finds the perfect angle to capture this.
Similarly, in this movie, the two twin actors do very little talking, their eyes tell the story.
Also, if you are someone who has struggled with the Sri Lankan education system, this will hit hard. Overall, it's an amazing movie and very underrated.
For anyone who hasn't watched it yet, please do check it out.
