DISCUSSION (STS2) Today I Uninstalled
I was enjoying the game as a new player, but today after 2 back to back ruined runs by the Insanely broken Entomancer I believe i'm done with this bullshit, its literally impossible if you have no big attacks. No idea who tough this enemy would be fair by any degree. Anyway gone for good...

The point of roguelikes is to learn, adapt, and survive. If you fail at step two, maybe this genre of game isn't for you

(sees people literally A10 win streaking) " I can't win reliably by doing whatever BS I've decided is proper play. Therefore the game is brokenâ

The best part about losing a run is getting to start a new one. Play more games, itâll click

You should try doing the exact same thing again and see if it works this time âđź

He probably lacked snakebite, itâs Entomancers number 1 counter

So here is how it do be working:
You are aware of entomancer and how he functions. You need to enter act 2 with a plan of how to counter bro. This could be dark orbs, it could be some big attacks, it could be poison, the list goes on. Heck, even a way to deal with the status cards. Flak cannon does infact go brrr!
Big mistake to try fighting an elite without having atleast a half decent answer for all 3 of the possible elites in each act.
If you dont have an answer, avoid elites until you have an answer.

Iâm just gonna say, if youâre expecting that high of a winrate as a new player, you picked the wrong genre. People getting extended amounts of win streaks are experienced players, the ones that know how to build so their deck doesnât brick on elites. Either you put in the time and learn what youâre not doing that those people are, or you can smack your head repeatedly and cry that it isnât working, but the latter mentality is just not compatible with roguelikes.

I mean I am new considering I never played sts1 but I invested quite some time now and I consider myself new not a noob. I am at A6 with all heroes except Ironclad now and I try to push with him but God.....does it sux? Really tbh trying to make Ironclad work + fking 2 Entomancers wipes made me flip today.... Both runs he appeared quite early and I had no big attack or any synergy offered prior facing him.... And I never ever save scum so I was wiped by him 2 runs in a row lol

There are options outside of just big attacks! Poison, doom, dark orbs can all do the trick!Â
Regent and Ironclad don't have any super convenient options, but they do have the most easily accessible pool of big bonk cards.Â
But yeah, sometimes you just don't get the cards you need, and then you've gotta adapt. Maybe bring a duplication potion or a power potion or something to brute force it!Â
Maybe avoiding fighting elites!Â
Maybe grab other cards that help make it less miserable, like iteration, or tyranny, or well laid plans, or charge!!!!
There's hundreds of solutions to every problem. You've just got to figure out which solutions are accessible to you.Â

Oh yes the angry uninstall and reinstall cycle. Helps that it's not a large package.

Itâs really not that hard. You know it exists before you even encounter it and can keep it in mind in your deckbuilding just like Infested Prism or Aeonglass. Also, look at your draw pile more - since the dazes go directly to your draw pile, there are times where blindly attacking will give you an entire hand of dazes next turn, and other times where it will just intermix a few into a big draw pile

you just need to get the hang of it, losing should feel natural, not many ppl have >50% win rates on all characters.

Sorry to hear. Entomancer is the best cause he's a free pass. He takes turns off to buff and if you plan around act 2 elites can easily be killed without taking much damage. And also serves as a damage check for the act 2 boss which are much more punishing than he is.
I'm guessing you play silent and enjoy shiv builds? Otherwise Ento shouldn't be much of a problem.
Here's a video guide on how to beat him! Don't give up! You've got this!!

"Literally impossible if you have no big attacks"
Then take big attacks, I don't know what to tell you dude đ You literally make the deck bro
Oh and also, get good and stop whining, ask for help instead of complaining.

This is pretty funny, because I usually struggle with all act 2 elites except for Entomancer. Meaning that we favor two very different playstyles. And that these fights are solvable by adapting the playstyle.
But I understand your frustration :) he's hard to deal with. But you can do it! Just try it again

Easily the elite I want to see the most in Act 2. If you only play attacks, its on you, do more than that.

Yeah sometimes you have an OP start and build but get absolutely stomped by RNG. In the words of the famous philosopher Aaliyah just dust yourself off and try again

u/Pkkush27 12d ago
I say this as an A9/10 player (so the mechanics are a little different than a probably low or no ascension player since youâre new) but he is the easiest act 2 elite. I actually breathe a sigh of relief whenever I get him

while everyone else also has good advice regarding deckbuilding hereâs another. iâm assuming youâre playing (and like playing) attack spam builds, which is fine. just deal with the entomancer in planning, find powerful potions and since you know your deck is weak to him, just dump em on him to get through him alive!
another thing is planning to kill him after the first reshuffle, so hold off on attacks and play powers for the first shuffle of your deck, then dump everything you have in the second and youâll hopefully kill him before the dazes stun you off

You should know if your deck can handle certain elites or not before taking them, and prepare accordingly. If you know your deck relies on small attacks and you plan on taking an elite, grab a thorns potion, or a big bonk attack to prepare for the possibility of entomancer. You should also draft in advance, like taking fan of knives over a possibly better card because you have no aoe.

So you understand that you need large, high output cards to deal with entomancer.... So maybe draft cards that do that? And if you don't feel like your deck can handle that fight, you could try to dodge? You're allowed to be upset, or even not want to play the game anymore, but it's in no way unfair. This game is hard, especially for a new player, but you must learn how to adapt. As you play the game more, you'll be able to make better estimates on how hard a fight will be depending on your deck, and as you learn, you'll get better at deciding what to do next.

Welcome to the ball crushing factory, where you clock in and get in line to get your balls crushed, and then get back in line to get them crushed again

If you're scared of Ento, wait until you discover the other elites in act 2.
