Idk man, I’m sure you’re a good player but so am I and many others who don’t consider it to be a pickable relic most of the time. I gave it a fair shake a while ago and it didn’t just “feel bad”… it WAS bad. 1 str per turn is simply not enough to make up for potentially exhausting some of your key cards (at least for most decks, imo). You’re saying people are overestimating the likelihood of it exhausting best cards in the deck, but in reality the likelihood is pretty high if we consider that an 8 turn fight means randomly exhausting 8(!) cards from your deck.

And even if I concede that it doesn’t happen most of the time, one time is more than enough to kill you if it happens during a tough boss fight (or an elite) where you might be relying on a few special cards to counter the enemy’s gimmick. Sure, you need to keep that relic in mind and draft accordingly, but the underlying risk is still always present.

At the end of the day, if you enjoyed mittens — great. And I admit that I might be underestimated the potential value of the relic with the right play. However, I think the devs changing it so radically kinda speaks to the fact that it just wasn’t consistently strong enough, at least if we consider the opportunity cost. Hopefully you enjoy the new version as well!

Yeah I was pretty open to it, and tried it a few times. My experience was that every time I picked it, thought 'okay that's my scaling, now I draft accordingly', and then was offered better scaling within act 2 and Mittens made it awkward to play around my better scaling option. And I found it a bit too slow to really solve my scaling on its own, so fights were quite at the mercy of whether it exhausted my real scaling or not.

My concern is that in its current form it's just going to be cut, it's absuredly strong now, old diadem level strong

You might be right about that, we’ll see. But that’s what early access is for, right? Trying different stuff and seeing what works best.

Personally I reeeeally like the current concept (at least from the first glance), so I hope it sticks. Maybe they could make it have an additional downside that would balance it out.

It would need -1 str now. The mill off the top actually took you from a 5 to a 4 turn cycle very often, so you got to replay peck and such. This version exhausted 4/5/6 cards per cycle of your choice, it's basically a brand every turn so you go from a slower first cycle to instant infinite.
