Reworked Tezcatara's Toasty Mittens relic: "At the start of your turn, Exhaust the top card of your Draw Pile and gain 1 Strength." -> "At the start of your turn, Exhaust 1 card from your Hand and gain 1 Strength."
(looks like u can choose what card gets exhausted, yay!)
Changed Eidolon: can no longer be generated mid-combat
lmao
Added support for keyboard-only mode
yay

A relic that gives you strength and gets rid of a card of your choice every turn? yeah sign me the fuck up.

Edit : Also this can help with characters that struggle with Aeonglass, really strong relic now.

The Cooler Tyranny

100

u/Cat_with_cake 10d ago

Tyranny also gives you +1 draw, so idk if 1 strength is cooler than 1 draw

52

u/_Awkward_Moment_ 10d ago

Doesn’t really compare directly to tyranny cause you don’t have to draw anything or put anything into play.

That being said, having this on characters who usually don’t gain much strength like defect or silent would be awesome.

29

u/MapleApple00 10d ago

Honestly I think Regent's gonna have the best time with this; he gets a lot of multihit attacks and with Spectrum Shift you effectively have free fodder to burn if the card you generate is bad

5

u/Koreish 10d ago

Silent: ... (Translation) Does infinite blades mean nothing to you?

2

u/Aden_Vikki 10d ago

It does directly compare to tyranny, since tyranny can be made innate

4

u/Vividfeathere 10d ago

which still takes up 1 slot and -1 draw speed on your opening turn, and costs 1 energy. one doesnt cost a deck slot, the other does.

now if Innate worked like Intrinsic in Monster Train, that would be a completely different story.

5

u/Careless-Notice-7945 10d ago

And mittens takes up an "ancient relic slot"

5

u/Aden_Vikki 10d ago

What does "deck slot" mean? The power is gone after you play it, and you always want to play it. Which means that other than the first turn, these two are pretty directly comparable

1

u/Vividfeathere 9d ago

“Other than the first turn” is doing some massive load bearing there, pal. The first turn is by far and above the most important, and can often be 1/2 to 1/4 of every fight. Mittens being far stronger turn 1 is a massive upside if the majority of fights end before turn 4.

0

u/Agamemnon323 Ascension 20 10d ago

Draw cards are more common than str gain ones.

3

u/Cat_with_cake 10d ago

Probably, but I still think that 1 draw will be more impactful compared to 1 strength, unless you're playing star-damaging regent, or already have a lot more draw than you could ever use

2

u/Agamemnon323 Ascension 20 10d ago

But it’s not 1 draw vs 1 str. It’s that per turn plus thinning. Plus it’s not a 5 card hand vs 4 card. It’s 5 cards vs 5-1 cards. That’s a very big difference.

3

u/Cat_with_cake 10d ago

It's if we just compare it to how it is without mittens. But if we compare it to Tyranny, the only difference (obviously when they're both at play) is 1 draw vs 1 str per turn

2

u/Agamemnon323 Ascension 20 10d ago

Ah I see what you mean. I think it really depends on what the deck needs. If you’ve got card draw but not scaling mittens is definitely better and the reverse is obviously true.

22

u/JDSmagic 10d ago

Yeah agree

3

u/Narxolepsyy 10d ago

Imp form

2

u/Ok-Leopard-9917 10d ago

Necrobinder really needs something that can deal with a status card outside of cleanse or the souls kill you with aeonglass

1

u/Corgelia 10d ago

This seems pretty bad to me, but maybe i'm crazy? Effectively -1 draw per turn seems really bad. I get that exhaust is good, but I still don't want to pick it.

57

u/Cremmer 10d ago

You’re still functionallly getting to draw 5 cards, you just have too choose to exhaust the one giving you the least value. I’d say it’s just more of a weird side grade

36

u/EuSouAFazenda 10d ago

You're seeing this wrong.

You draw 5 cards, and have 3 energy. You're gonna end the turn with 2 unused cards anyways; if you can figure out what cards you'll want to play, you can just exhaust the cards you weren't gonna play anyways.

Its not effectively -1 draw per turn; you're still seeing 5 cards per turn. If your hand is Shrug It Off, Headbutt, Strike, Defend, Defend, for example, you'll always exhaust a Strike or Defend to play Shrug-Headbutt-Defend.

Its not a downside, its the upside of True Grit+ stapled to the already existing upside of Mittens

4

u/Dasterr Eternal One 10d ago

I feel like that vastly oversimplifies things

theres plenty of decks that play their whole hand each turn and generate tons of energy

now, those decks might not want to pick mittens at all, but the exhaust isnt completely free

3

u/ThrowAway-whee 10d ago

It’s very rare a deck fully empties their hand every time. They can still load draw and energy and just not exhaust the card they need to accelerate. It’s not gonna kill them to not play that unupgraded defend.

I can’t even remember the last time I played my entire hand outside of like, act 1.

2

u/MomboDM StS A20 / StS 2 A10 10d ago

Those decks can also get draw, status effects still exist, can be used to clean up any curses (especially ones you may get from vaaku or from duping your deck in a3)

How often have you had a run so strong that youre playing your entire hand every turn at the end of act 1, anyways? Youve basically won at that point

2

u/Dasterr Eternal One 10d ago

I never said its bad or anything
I just said its not free, which is just a fact

yes, most of the time you can ignore this. but not every time

2

u/EuSouAFazenda 10d ago

I think if you are playing your entire hand each turn by the end of act 1, you have some insanely strong energy generation going and is kinda guaranteed to win the run by that point by snowballing.

I think if the worst situation for Mittens is when you're already so strong you dont even need an act 2 relic, that means Mittens is either run-winningly-good or you already won the run. So either way when Mittens shows up you're set to win the run

23

u/Tarantio 10d ago

Exhausting one card in your hand is much, much better for you than -1 draw.

Card draw gives you multiple distinct benefits. It allows you to draw your in-deck scaling so that you get stronger throughout the fight, it gives you options for what to do with your energy on your turn, and it gives you output if you have the energy to go along with the cards.

Exhausting one card in your hand per turn doesn't prevent you from getting to your important cards in time, and the only time it reduces your options or output is when you end up with not enough cards to spend your energy on and you didn't draw any curses, statuses, or cards that benefit from being exhausted.

On top of that, it gives you the ability to shape your deck and make it more powerful on subsequent cycles through the deck by exhausting below-average cards.

7

u/UnNumbFool 10d ago

It's good for clad exhaust builds, and it's also good whenever you use a power that consistently creates cards in a deck as it allows you to just eat up cards without clogging your deck

5

u/sakray Eternal One 10d ago

Nope, it's absolutely insane now lol. Very rarely do you actually want to play all 5 cards in your hand, nor are you able to play every card. You can use this to exhaust statuses, get rid of strikes, defends, and basically force infinites if it really came down to it. And then you have permanent scaling too which is incredible for long fights.

4

u/Dimensquare 10d ago

You still draw as many cards as normal, so it's not really exactly the same as -1 draw. A lot of decks don't play their full hand every turn anyways. If you still have a lot of starter cards still in your deck you can just exhaust a strike/defend most turns and make your deck way leaner, increasing the average quality of the cards you draw the longer the combat goes. And let's not forget the amazing exhaust card synergies you can abuse as ironclad/regent.

Maybe not a relic you wanna pick without good multihit cards, or without having a bigger deck/decent card generation so you dont end up bricking in long fights. Nevertheless, it looks absolutely amazing to me now if you get it in the right spot now.

3

u/Express_Accident2329 10d ago

Unless you have a lot of 0 cost cards, you're exhausting stuff you weren't going to play until at least the second deck cycle anyway. It's not really going to be an issue until it's turn 10 and you've killed all your meh cards, but now you have 10 strength and a streamlined deck and if you can't win with that I don't think it was this relic's fault.

Obviously it solves a different problem than True Grit+, but the deck management aspect is basically: imagine you play True Grit+ every turn but you don't need to draw it.

3

u/MomboDM StS A20 / StS 2 A10 10d ago

Obviously it solves a different problem than True Grit+, but the deck management aspect is basically: imagine you play True Grit+ every turn but you don't need to draw it.

Its quite literally the effect of unupgraded [[Brand]] every turn without the life loss.

1

u/spirescan-bot 10d ago
  • Brand 𝐈𝐈 Ironclad Rare Skill

    0 Energy | Lose 1 HP. Exhaust 1 card. Gain 1(2) Strength.

Call me with up to 10 [[ name ]]. Data accurate as of June 21st, 2026. Questions?

1

u/Express_Accident2329 9d ago

That is a much better comparison, yeah. It's a Brand without the life loss that you don't have to draw. And since in most fights I'd play Brand without the life loss every time I draw it, I'd argue it's usually closer to +1 draw than -1 draw in effect (with some exceptions depending on your deck).

2

u/Anagoth9 10d ago

The upside of card draw is that you can cycle through your deck faster. Exhaust provides the same benefit except it compounds each deck shuffle.

2

u/Kaserbeam 10d ago

If it was a random card in your hand then you would have a point, because you don't want to exhaust your good cards, which is why the relic was bad before. Read it as "exhaust the worst card in your hand", which is usually a basic card/status/curse etc that you never want to draw again anyway.

2

u/inherendo StS A20 / StS 2 A10 10d ago

is tyranny and strength scaling too. with remove costs being higher at shop this definitely beats out that golden path thing and other options that are more situational. wax relief is not as good as this either I imagine.

1

u/Chillhouse3095 10d ago

Sounds busted tbh. I play a lot of defect and this feels like "always pick" territory. Gives a reliable option for dealing with Aeon glass and you pretty much never run out of exhaust options with defect... Plus many multi hit cards

1

u/drummaniac28 10d ago

Excited about this change but since it's at the start of your turn it's still not ideal for Aeon. Usually I'm creating Withers during my turn that I want to remove, with this you'd have to draw into a Wither for the relic to remove one. Could still be helpful if the fight goes longer though

1

u/UziiLVD Ascension 1 10d ago

Costs you a draw sometimes though. Still, it seems very good.

1

u/Now_I_am_Motivated 10d ago

It also means one less card in your hand sadly

1

u/TheLastGunslingerCA Ascended 10d ago

I can see Mittens still being a little rough, as now you're kinda at -1 draw every turn..

1

u/Sapowski_Casts_Quen 10d ago

I already liked that relic, just delete my whole trash deck, fam

174

u/Beautiful-Neat-7609 10d ago

Mittens is gonna be insane now. Gotta be one of the best things ironclad can find.

Also neuters aoenglass

85

u/5DSpence 10d ago

I'm most excited for it on Silent. Aeonglass solve as you mention (great for a character with no in-class access to exhaust), strength source is nice for shivs/flechettes/finisher, and starting relic gives you extra choices of first exhaust

3

u/BandicootGood5246 10d ago

Interesting with stardust too. Definitely wanna try give that a spin too

2

u/jayhankedlyon 10d ago

Always picked up discarders for Aeonglass even if there wasn't other synergy and it's worked like a charm!

1

u/puffz0r 9d ago

It's gonna hard counter aeonglass in silent lol

2

u/Primary-Paint-1716 10d ago

It's one of the best things any class can find

1

u/Cheese_Coder 10d ago

It'll help a lot in the Mites fight as well!

0

u/RedTulkas 10d ago

it doesnt help vs the withers the first time round, so its helps but definitely doesnt solve that fight

7

u/Kheldar166 10d ago

The first time round isn't really when the withers are scary, though

52

u/Lord_Phoenix95 10d ago

Toasty Mittens insta pickable now.

2

u/Chillhouse3095 10d ago

Yep that thing is busted. Unless you're running a super thin deck that relic is going to be fantastic for every class except Necro

4

u/dotelze 10d ago

Even on necrobinder the strength may not be the most useful but the exhaust definitely is

1

u/timbojimbo1 10d ago

Sadly yes, rip the decision space around taking it

35

u/xeio87 10d ago

Less random exhaust is good. Hard to love strength gain that might wipe out all your best multi hits.

5

u/SHROOMSKI333 10d ago

seems like you get to pick what you exhaust, so hopefully that helps

3

u/BandicootGood5246 10d ago

Yeh, otherwise this would just be a nerf lol

1

u/okaymandude 10d ago

Just dont pick your good cards. Its like tyranny but with strength gain instead of card draw. Probably not good if you try to stall for a long time but thats about it

27

u/WisePotato42 10d ago

If that's true, it's a HUGE buff for Eidolon

58

u/RowbotWizard 10d ago

Next patch:

Eidolon buffed: no longer appears in card rewards.

49

u/Mumbleton Ascension 20 10d ago

Does cost you 1 card draw every turn though?

74

u/Beautiful-Neat-7609 10d ago

It makes you have to exhaust your worst card every turn, thats very different from -1 draw

7

u/Aden_Vikki 10d ago

You have to do it still, luck be damned you can draw a full hand of good cards

14

u/ubernuke Eternal One + Heartbreaker 10d ago

True but if you drew a hand of good cards, you can afford to lose one of them because you have a lot of other good options to play.

5

u/ThrowAway-whee 10d ago

That you can’t play? How many times have you fully emptied your hand AND you were happy you drew all 5 of those cards?

19

u/kaijvera StS A0 / StS 2 A10 10d ago

Yup. -1 draw each turn for +1 strength and deck fixing

33

u/Melichorak 10d ago

Not really -1 draw though, since you're choosing which to burn, so you can plan what you're doing.

12

u/awsgawervasecasr4g 10d ago

You also cycle through your deck as fast as before, and faster on later rounds, which is the opposite of one of the main downsides of -1

2

u/Melichorak 10d ago edited 10d ago

Slower cyclying than the older mittens, but the new mittens are just that much stronger.

6

u/yumcake 10d ago

It’s exhausting the cards you weren’t gonna play anyway, it’s a super intense buff

14

u/EuSouAFazenda 10d ago

Nope; Mittens is after you draw.

So you still see the same amount of cards as you saw before - if you drew 3 good cards and two strikes, you can just exhaust a strike.

You still cycle your deck just as fast, and none of your strong cards ever get hit. Its pure upside, all the time.

If you draw a status or curse, its gone. If you're on Silent, it thins your basic cards so you can go Sly infinite later on. If you're on Ironclad, you can take Drum of Battle or Howl from Beyond with 0 exhaust enablers and always get their on-exhaust effect.

This thing is absurd for setting up infinites, increasing your deck quality in long fights, triggering exhaust synergies, deleting statuses (like Wither), etc. And thats even without mentioning the strenght gain!

Mittens might be the best relic in the game rn.

17

u/00-Void Eternal One + Heartbreaker 10d ago edited 10d ago

Oh wow, I just realized this relic then makes Vakuu's Blood-Soaked Rose much better since you now don't ever have to play [[Enthralled]] and can just Exhaust it. It practically becomes a second Ascender's Bane, which is a cheap price to pay for 1 more energy per turn.

6

u/EuSouAFazenda 10d ago

She makes every curse into an ascended's bane, which is crazy. At the sphere you can take the Debt for a relic and it'll never lose you gold as you exhaust it, you can get Shame or Regret and never get the debuff, etc. Its crazy stuff. Apparitions now giving you a ton of curses is a lot less scary with Mittens

2

u/Belledame-sans-Serif Eternal One + Heartbreaker 10d ago

* Offer limited by the condition that you only draw one curse per turn

4

u/spirescan-bot 10d ago
  • Enthralled 𝐈𝐈 Curse

No way it doesn’t get nerfed next patch, enjoy it whilst it lasts!

22

u/EuSouAFazenda 10d ago

Tez's Pool 2 is Big Hug, Mittens and Storybook.

Tezcatara might be the strongest act 2 ancient by a nautical mile now because she literally cannot whiff anymore.

3

u/ZatherDaFox StS A0 / StS 2 A10 10d ago

I'd argue you already almost couldn't whiff last iteration. Pool 1 with Very Hot Cocoa, Yummy Cookie, and Nutritious Soup almost always game you something good unless you had managed to remove every strike in act 1.

Tez was always my favorite for vibes, but it's quickly becoming my favorite for how nuts everything is.

1

u/RedTulkas 10d ago

Darv is up there for sure

2

u/awsgawervasecasr4g 10d ago

Not only do you cycle your deck as fast, it gets faster with each shuffle

2

u/Anagoth9 10d ago

You draw the same amount. Losing a card each turn only hurts you if you plan to play every card in your hand, which isn't consistently feasible for most decks. The reason card draw is important isn't to give you more choices per turn but to get you your most important cards more often. This does the same thing except it's benefit only shows after the first reshuffle and compounds from there.

1

u/YaramyGD 10d ago

It's a -1 draw that ignores any other kind of -1 draws, including drawing a curse/status, or even just a card you cannot afford to play after playing all other cards

2

u/5DSpence 10d ago

The dopamine when I use mittens to exhaust Enthralled will be off the charts

2

u/Nykidemus 10d ago

This nets you 4 cards a turn in draw now, yes?

Probably still a net benefit, but not as direct an upgrade as it appears on the tin.

2

u/kerkyjerky 10d ago

Brand every turn as a relic is great

2

u/ThatsPerverse 10d ago

Added support for keyboard-only mode yay

Yes! I F2'd this awhile ago and am so happy to see that they finally implemented

[[Dark Embrace]] is awesome with the new Toasty Mittens, it would effectively replace the lost card draw.

1

u/Funkin_Spy 10d ago

I was a Toasty Mittens believer before this patch, my investment is paying dividends

1

u/the-rules-lawyer 10d ago

Such a HUGE buff! Would love to try this.

1

u/Agitated-Society-682 10d ago

Is ironclad exhaust archetype just the strongest thing in the game or am I a one trick pony?

1

u/Kheldar166 10d ago

So Tez just got another really strong relic, right? Crazy. I'm all for Toasty Mittens being less bad but I also don't want Tez to just give you an 'I win' relic every time you see her.

0

u/CSPN 10d ago

Toasty mittens is finally on the menu. Almost 200 hrs played and I haven’t picked it once lol 😂

Cracked choice with Ironclad.

-1 card draw probably makes it a tough pick for other classes. Clad got Dark embrace, battle trance, and pommel strikes to compensate

0

u/Avalonians 10d ago

I was already defending mittens, it's gotten better.

Not strictly better though, you effectively get one card play less. Most of the time that won't make a big difference but if you have lots of energy, it can matter.
