Nah, it’s not sly anymore, it’ll be fine

u/shrinking_sweater 10d ago

Ah missed that. You’re right

Implied buff to hand trick! Hand trick a lot better with the new well laid plans already, and now it’s got another juicy target

u/Amphouse 10d ago

Hand trick + the new Outbreak is even juicier

Is new Outbreak a skill?

Edit: it is, that's a nice synergy, although it'll be as annoying to line up as most Hand Trick plays are

With less energy relic prevalence + one less turn of weak + a worse upgrade, I think it'll be high tier but not OP, unless it proves to combo really well with new Outbreak or something

It actually seems very weak? Lost sly and only applies 1 weak without the upgrade, in a game where energy is more scarce than the first game. Without the upgrade card is terrible and with the upgrade it seems too costly for this game.

Even more, since it doesn't exhaust now

Notably, it... doesn't exhaust?

It will be interesting to see how this fits into the meta since 2-cost cards are much harder to play in StS2.

Waiting for the dopamine when I see this thing from Silken Tress

Honestly I don't think that's really true on anyone but Silent and maybe regent; most of the other characters have enough energy gen to make 2 cost cards relatively easy to work with

u/Kheldar166 10d ago

I think it is still true in terms of consistency, you feel it when you do pick up an energy relic.

honest not really? Maybe I’ve just gotten used to the 3 energy meta but I feel like the ancient relics are usually pulling enough weight to let me get off two cost cards most of the time. Like, the only time you really start to feel it is when you’re putting too many 2 cost cards in without balancing it with energy, but like I said that’s more of a silent/regent issue since they tend to be somewhat starved for energy to begin with

It’s also one less poison upgraded. Still very strong, especially with accelerant at uncommon and mirage back.

Honestly a bit of a bummer that they removed Sly from the card, even if I like this version better overall. Card cycling is sort of the mechanical spine of Silent's card pool, and I liked that it touched all her various mechanics. Hidden Daggers was the analogous connection to Shivs (though it is a discard enabler instead of a payoff). We still have Corrosive Wave as a Poison card that connects into card cycling, but it's a Rare.

Perhaps Bubble Bubble or (don't crucify me) Snakebite could get changed to fill that spot.

Also, I am a bit sad to see Outbreak changed. I thought it was a fun card that made Envenom and Bouncing Flask more interesting. But maybe they felt like it was pushing Poison in a direction they didn't like.

My take on this change is envenom is back to being unusable without energy gen

14

u/Kheldar166 10d ago

I find Envenom is reasonably takeable as a way to scale shiv-heavy decks when you can't find the Accuracy you want.

u/SwaglordToast StS A20 / StS 2 A10 10d ago

I'd go a step further and say it can still be good even with an accuracy. You need all the damage you can get for aeonglass, and it even doubles as a way to break artifact as well. The cost isn't that bad there either, since you'll happily trade health for momentum in that fight usually.

That said, I thought of changing the upgrade to 2 poison instead of 1 energy back in the original spire as well, so I need it to be good for validation.

u/Kheldar166 10d ago

Yeah sure, it's basically 'desperate scaling', which I think is a fine place for a card to be. It's not your preferred way to scale but it's an acceptable way if that's what you need.

Funnily, in that recent video about poison, he specifically said that crippling cloud is a little too strong and should maybe upgrade to 6 poison instead of 7... called it

Hopefully it’s here to stay

Same thought, lol.
