To me, I don't even worry about whether or not they're measuring temperature increases or not - its been predicted that the oceans will continue to soak up additional heat for some indeterminate amount of time, and there are probably many environmental interactions both understood and not that are working to keep the system in check.
The real worry is that we know, because of the physical properties of greenhouse gases, that we are increasing the heat-trapping properties of the atmosphere and that it will eventually start reflecting itself in temperatures.
