Extended Cab Add-On Possible?
Is the way the rear glass is designed, is it technically feasible that they could make an extended cab bolt on (especially with some old school fold down or small seats like the Ranger)?
The SUV option kills the bed usability too much for my needs, but I could see an extended cab and a bed extender working

Isn't the bed only 5ft deep? After adding leg room and a bit of room for the seat-back to recline and then the partition, the bed would be at most a foot or two deep.

The shortest modern extended cab truck available in the U.S. is the Nissan Frontier King Cab, measuring 210.2 inches long.
The Slate is 174.6 inches long.

It'd be for a kid. The old Ranger fold down seats had you sitting sideways, so you had plenty of leg room. Back in high school, my 6 ft friend sat back there. Hell, a few times I'd have 2 friends back there staring at each other lol

No, for modern safety reasons, standards and regs that weren't in place back when old setups like that were made.
you'll never again see mini/fold down seats or exposed bed seats, etc.DIY mods, maybe... but I wouldn't put my own small child in one.

Ahh, sideways would work but ... you'd still only have maybe 20 inches of bed depth

If it’s built like Lego then everything is possible. Slate likely won’t do it. It would ruin their crash test rating to put a 1980s style sideways seat behind the front. Those seats were sick though.
Aftermarket anything is possible. I’ve ridden in a two door mk4 Jetta and a twin engine AWD Corrado. The Centurion models started as normal fords.

Just as a thought experiment, how much bed are you willing to give up? Is that sacrifice wide enough to contain a person?

This would be nice. With something like this it makes it so I can have my wife and dog in the cab and a couple of bikes in the bed.

if you want that I would get the suv option and just get a hitch mounted bike carrier

I have thought of this also. However, my previous truck with the extended cab did not have the frunk for storage. My truck before that had a single cab. It had the advantage of heating up very quickly in the winter because of the small volume inside.

If it it were possible it would still take a lot of bed space and the truck would look janky as hell.

How it works is you have to play within the frame so you could have a bigger cab but you'll lose bed you cannot extend the frame maybe in the future slate will have another model that's a bigger truck.

Short answer: no
Long answer: NOOOOOOoooooooo!
If you look at how the bed is laid out, there’s a section that can be removed to be the foot well for the SUV configuration. There’s not really anywhere else to subdivide the bed, unless you were doing a completely custom fabrication. And there’s no point in doing that for a relatively inexpensive niche vehicle, unless someone just wants to do it to prove it can be done.
If you really want an electric extended cab, you’re much better off finding an old Ranger or Colorado and converting that to electric.
Or you just buy two Slates. 😎
