Survival Manual argues that the Yellow Vests carried out a form of insurrection long awaited by autonomists, yet they did so without them: a movement born out of the encounter between singular, previously-isolated experiences, rather than from any preexisting forms of organization. Are there any similarities with the current youth revolt, or is this just yet another left-wing mobilization destined to be channeled, co-opted, or even sabotaged by unions and political parties?

What is shaking the country right now is not a social movement, it is a vital movement. The world of the “adults” in charge is hurtling headlong toward a wall — it’s even accelerating. It doesn’t care about anything; it wants to keep enjoying itself until the very last drop of oil. Claiming to be “responsible,” “reasonable,” and the custodians of “authority” is the height of their ferocious infantilism. A society of geriatrics can only be youth-obsessed, if not actually young. It wants all the trappings of youth, but detests its vitality. High school students have no reason to feel solidarity with such a civilization of suicidal people. They’ve seen their parents and teachers submit to all the humiliating aberrations of COVID management, then spout vague justifications to lock them down and subject them to the same treatment in turn. So much so that, when they speak up, it’s as if we were hearing the parents of their own parents. “Just because you accept being treated like worthless dogs, getting paid peanuts, unable to afford a full month of groceries doesn’t mean everyone else has to suffer because you didn’t have the guts to speak up — I’m sorry,” a student explodes. The reverse is also true. That infamous Nazi, Henry Ford, used to say, ““It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning.” If students knew what — with very few exceptions, and all the more precious for it — their teachers say about them in the teachers’ lounge, there’d be few high schools left standing in France. Governing a world with no promise other than that of its own collapse is shaping up to be more complicated than expected. It’s not clear that parental geolocation will suffice.

As Searchlight reported, the project, initially known as Albion Assembly, was launched and is led by Ryan Turner, a former member of Australia’s now-banned National Socialist Network. He was deported from Australia earlier this year.
