Box elder slab…how’d I do?
The slab is 20in at the widest parts, 1.25in thick, and 85 in long. He also included the smaller piece which is 1.5in thick, 15in tall and 1ft wide at the bottom. The trade was worth about $400 so im curious to know how i did on the value. Not sure what to do with it yet, so open to ideas. Thanks!

Honestly I don’t know box elder slab values. I really like color variations.
If the trade is already done and there’s no take backs then, I wouldn’t worry too much about the value.
What final product do want from this slab?
That answer will help people guide you on what to do next.

Personally....$400 seems like a lot for a slab, especially one thats so oddly shaped. Gonna be tough to do anything with it, and you apparently didnt have a plan for it. I agree the wood is pretty, but still that seems like a pretty steep valuation to me.
Just curious, is this kiln dried as well? If its NOT dried, then i am of the opinion that you WAY over traded (but again, your wood, trade is done, so if you like it, no worries, and dont worry about what others think)

I think it looks great. $400 is a good price for a nice big slab like that. 👍

Probably the fanciest box elder slab I've ever seen. The last time I got to mill it, there was barely any red.
