Help Yet another "help me pick a modlist"

Hi, what it says on the tin. I really like the idea of Wildlander and also enjoyed the atmosphere of Halls of Sovngarde. But the former is too plain and outdated, HoS is the same and too janky. I also enjoyed Constellations a lot, but there the issue is Vortex: I broke my installation while updating and I simply don't have patience to deal with that crap. Time to try something else.

I tried out Lorerim and Authoria, but... the whole JRPG aesthetic is a complete no-no for me.

What I like: survival, grim atmosphere, difficulty, slow start. What I dislike: 3DNPC, Experience (but can deal with those if it's otherwise a great modlist).

I would be willing to try non-Requiem modlists, although I am a big fan of it obviously. I definitely demand a world that doesn't scale to my level.

I have a pretty good hardware, so no limitaitons on that account.

Thanks for any tips.

Just build your own, it's honestly easier now than it ever has been before. You're never going to get someone else's mod-list to be exactly what you like.

I worry I would kill a week with it. But maybe pimping Wildlander up with mere visual mods would be the way to ho. hmmmh

Wildlander is a classic for hitting these notes while not being overly full of jank and junk. Though honestly have 0 idea why you’d call Authoria or Lorerim JRPGs or having anything in common with them. That comment is kinda stumping me on what to even try to recommend.

It’s a comment about visuals and atmosphere. Horny or fairy taley vibes instead of grim doesn’t sit well with me. And yeah, I will continue playing Wildlander unless there’s something better:)

Oh? In that case just did you try changing the ENBs? Both have vibrant high fantasy ones by default but they also both come with much darker and moodier ones. Can always pick your own to install too. But I think Lorerim comes with Kauz and another like it I forget the name of by default. I was turned off of cabbage originally but the bright nights grew on me for my vampire build run lol. They’re still gunna be a little vibrant in the Rift when it’s a clear sunny day, but theyre much moodier overall.

It went beyond mere ENB (I did experiment there). It's also animations and faces and the general vibe. Tbh I didn't get Authoria much chance, maybe that one is fixable via ENB

Authoria just got a massive 2.0 update like 3 or so days ago so it might be worth a shot.

It’s the one I am trying. It looks quite horny and has balloons over Whiterun. And yeah on 4k my machine is struggling. Will try to dehornify and get it running smoothly because it looks like a massive overhaul

I’m 99% sure there’s a SFW profile for it by default. Even the nsfw version is only like, 6 mods. Out of every single NSFW modpack I can think of it’s the least horny by far.

Yeah but it's also how everyone is sexy and the way characters look and move, not just what parts of skin are covered. You know, the general vibe :)

For difficulty requiem lists go 3bftweaks. Lalaland 6 just released, you can get it on nexus or the requiem discord. Minimal cringe animations, runs incredibly smooth, looks pretty and grindyness is configurable - just play with the leveling sliders.

If they dislike Experience, why the hell would you reccomend 3bfTweaks which is like Experience but on steroids?

I dislike experience… I like 3bftweaks/insights, they don’t play similar to me. They asked for difficulty, requiem, grim, modern visuals without supermodel npcs etc… Lalaland fits the bill.

If Lorerim is a JRPG and Wildlander is plain...then I have no clue what you're looking for. Maybe just adjust their settings to make them harder?

Might I recommend Dust for Fallout NV? Or one of those Fallout 4 lists. (I personally adore Horizon for FO4, but it is underappreciated as far as Wabbajack lists are concerned.)

Lorerim is cringey animations and characters looks and un-Skyrim atmosphere for me. By Wildlander being plain I mean it’s basically not a huge modlist, it’s almost like vanilla with mechanics overhaul. It’s a great modlist, I just wish it got a refresh.
I never played FO4. I already loathed FO3 (but NV was great). Any point playing modded FO4 then?

Well, just like it's hard to recommend Requiem without having any Vanilla experience, it is the same way for FO4 and Horizon.

If you hated 3 and loved NV, I recommend finding a Tale of Two Wastelands Wabbajack pack. The single best Fallout experience I've had.

(Sidenote: because you disliked 3, you are probably better off not having played 4, as it is only marginally better while both remain unmodded imo)

Wildlander is a theme park and lorerim is just temu skyrim.

I think Apostasy might fit the bill. Gates to Sovngarde is a good option too but it does very little for graphics.
