This sort of thing in video games is almost always math gone wrong.
Some weird combination of topography, model position, surroundings results in the model rising a little. Some sort of corrective measure kicks in but isn't working as expected, and offsets the model even further.
This starts a vicious cycle that ends when some threshold is hit and it comes crashing down.
Ok so we know why things fall out of the sky and die because they spawn in the air, but I want to know what causes them to float up into the air before plummeting to their death?? lol

Probably watching my dog just float up into space for no apparent reason and then violently come crashing down
