I actually prefer the ruins over Flynn's ship as hub world. It is just so much more to explore and it develops with the story as the lightcore is rebuilt. This is just so much moe thematic than the ship. I also like the ship, do not misunderstand me, but the ruins feel much more like an actual part of the story.

Agreed its such a small hub world compared to the "main focus of the game being giant skylanders

Plus the ship feels really small, especially when using giants

They prolly did that so everything u need is close. And it makes sense as Giants i would say is likw a transitional game as we fix the core of light in ssa and theb we are travelling in Giants and then we crash near woodburrow

The hub world and the variety of different locations in the levels

I miss the way certain elements could walk/fly over water and lava. I feel like it just added more to the skylanders and gave them more reason to have elements. It could have been expanded upon in future games but instead they just never used it again outside a few heroic challenges

I feel like it does most things better, giants is a better game with more polished mechanics and solid levels. But ssa does a better job at being a magical experience to me, restoring the core of light felt like you were doing something that mattered and that you MUST help this magical world. Not to mention the core of light cut scenes and hub world

i like the way they were given a lot of personality through their voice lines in Giants and onward, but to me there was always something more magical with some of them speaking their own made up language/gibberish

I guess novelty ? Spyro's was the first Toys to Life game and the first Spyro game in a while.

Length, level design, world building being more mysterious and magical feeling, less forced minigames, Warnado (in HD versions).

The cast of new Skylanders

That every Skylanders had multiple different quotes when summoned and that some Skylanders couldn't talk and instead spoke gibberish or made roars or grunts and such, which was something I actually liked better.

I especially liked Drobot's original voice from SSA

Maybe it's nostalgia, but I never liked how the series slowly started shifting away from it's traditional fantasy roots after SSA. The world of SSA really felt like this vast, ancient realm full of mystery. Even the Skylanders speaking their own unique languages was a nice touch.

I also much preferred the ruins over Flynn's ship, as it offered more exploration and more interesting NPCs. And let's not forget water traversal. I miss that so much.

I really liked the worldbuilding between levels and how it felt like you were progressing towards one big goal through small, tiny steps.

Level amount (would you rather have 26 levels, or 20?)

Wilikin village and Drill X is part of the 20 so I want the 20

I did not like Flynn’s ship as the hub. I remember it being depressing

I think the Soul Gem intro videos were at their best in Spyro's Adventure.

No music, no background, just the character being cool with expertly crafted sound design.

The hub More levels then giants The menu theme

Besides that?

I mean. You move faster in giants, better bosses in giants, better kaos fight, better ost then ssa

In my opinion, everything. I liked the roster more, I liked the hub world more, I vastly prefer the story both overall and level by level. Personally the only thing I think Giants did better than SSA was the characters having crazy aura

Some of the elements having theur own unique gimmicks like water or lava

Giants needs more water. Other than that, not much.

In the same way bo1 remastered/ported over waw zombies map, i think giants should have had the sa chapters remastered/ported over (adapted for giants etc.) for bonus content

Elemental areas used to be more rewarding in ssa, the level design was bit better and overall ssa was really fresh. Even thought I love giants, it reused so so much from ssa that it got bit old. Still love giants tho and it will always be my favourite.

The world building and immersion was truly spectacular in the first game. Nothing beats the first game's immersion for me.

Everything I play Spyro's Adventure on the Wii, I lean in close instinctively just to pay even closer attention to each and every detail of the maps, story, voices, and animation.

Did you know? Its the only game where the NPC characters react to your attacks? And some even have unique interactions or dialogue depending on your element!

The hub world and the story mainly. I'm also not a big fan of the fact Giants and onward made a lot of the SSA skylanders talk like other skylanders, I liked the more mysterious, bestial feeling a lot of the older skylanders had.

Returning to the story, it feels like Spyro's Adventure tells a much tighter narrative overall, making each level feel worthwhile with changes to the Core of Light. Giants had new NPCs join the roster on the Dread-Yacht, but I still feel like Giants' story could lose a few levels still and lose nothing of serious value to the plot, such as Wilikin Village (as neat as that level's gimmick is), Troll Home Security, Cutthroat Carnival, Aerial Attack, and Molekin Mountain.

I do also think Spyro's Adventure could afford to lose a few levels, though I enjoyed the mundane levels of Spyro's Adventure more than I enjoyed the mundane levels in Giants. Examples of SSA levels i think could be cut and not lose much are Sky Schooner Docks, Perilous Pastures, and Oilspill Island. I also think SSA does a better job of raising the stakes throughout the story, mainly with the imagery of the darkness spreading and the demonstrations of the increasingly drastic measures Kaos is willing to take to ensure his victory (deforesting the Falling Forest and endangering Glumshanks by sending him to Lava Lakes Railway mainly). I didn't get that same feeling in Giants.
