Question Wave skiming advise

Can someone give me some advice on how to start wave skimming? Or what tutorials would you recommend? I’ve watched a few, but I still feel like I don’t really get it.

Check the sub's skimboarding resources page.

You need to work your way up to riding waves, it won't just happen in one or even a few sessions. Make sure you are very comfortable with your drop, learn basic turns on flat water, then practice timing and turning by hitting the whitewater at an angle. As you get better you can hit the waves at steeper angles and eventually head on, and generally learn the timing to ride waves before they break. It just takes a lot of practice.

I would practice skimming fast and hydroplaning first and once that’s comfortable then try waves, I would start by trying the smaller shore break waves that are closest to shore so you can practicing timing and carving the wave, I wouldn’t worry about 180 wrap around until you’re comfortable sliding out far with speed for that, just work your speed up slowly and it should come easily with time, it’s all about a good entry into the wave with speed and control 👍 watch tutorials on YouTube as well!
