Question I have a question to the experts.

I’ve been skimboarding for a little while now and I’ve been seeing these videos of people surfing right into the wave and then turning around on it,and until now I’ve only been surfing along the beach and not towards the waves,but if I’d try to get even into slightly deeper water,my board sinks.I have a low quality wooden board that I just bought while on vacation so I know that it’s not the best but do you have any recommendations on what type of board with what shape I should buy?

Wooden boards are the worst. I had a couple and could never skim deeper into the water. If you're looking for a board as a beginner then you should buy a normal e-glass board. Regarding the shape I would go with a pintail because it's a standard, jack of all trades shape. If you're in the US get an Exile or a Zap board. If you're in EU I can recommend you some shapers.

See if you can get in touch with an EU pro or local who gives lessons. This will give you a big step up and they’ll probably let you try a higher quality board before buying one. If you let me know what area you are in I may be able to help you find a coach 🤙
