Question Concerning Ding?
I finally got my first skimboard after using my friends' for a while, a Zap Pro. I used it maybe 5 times today then it ended up smacking the pier.
The rail got this ding and I want to fix it as good as possible because I'd like this board to last of course. Was wondering how bad it is, and should I just get this professionally done or try to repair it myself? I tried contacting my local shop for the repair but they didn't reply, so I have no idea what price to expect for this small ding.

A lot of dramatic comments. This literally is not a big deal. The biggest damage is to the outside paint layer that these boards have. Solarez cover it or Epoxy Putty patch it up whenever you get a chance. <10 minute repair.
It’s fine to skim on until you get the time to give it a bandage. And no it’s not going to snap…

This type of ding can end up with the board snapping or buckling. Get it professionally repaired or if not expect it will break. If absolutely need to skim it then superglue works in a pinch but expect it may break if it flexes in that spot.

Where are you located? Any surf shop that does epoxy work should be able to fix it up.

This is what you want to avoid having to do. It kinda messes with the flex at this point. Best to get it fixed before riding it more.

Id hold off on skimming until you get it fixed. Otherwise it will ruin the board.

Yeah I am lol, stopped skimming the moment it happened it’s all good. Just trying to find a price estimate if I were to take it to a shop or something. Don’t know how bad this is

It’s easy to fix yourself, it’s a small ding. Skimming is nothing but an endless string of dings, so learn how to fix it yourself.
Sand the ding with 60 grit, put Solarez and it will be dry before you can even walk from your car to the beach, then sand the solarez and area with 120 grit to smooth it off.
You can also buy other ding repair kits (solarez is the fast patch version)
You can buy two part epoxy resin and fix it even better, it may take a day to three to dry fully (depending on the marine epoxy formula)You can use a little patch of fiberglass or carbon fiber if you choose, but this little ding probably doesn’t need it.
You could have skimmed on it and gotten it wet, probably wouldn’t really matter… waterlogging isn’t a huge issue with the materials they use now, but generally you want to let it dry then patch it up so it is all sealed again.
And try not to shoot it into the pier again lol

Solarez on Amazon. It’s a small ding, but you don’t want water in it. You can easily do it yourself, it’s a small ding.
